Hi,

I just installed an old Me cd in VPC set up folder sharing, and started playing around, anyways, I copied the C:\Program Files\Plus\Themes into a tempory folder, and double clicked on the theme file, for Dangerous Creatures, much to my surprise it workes excellently :-) Here is a screenshot of it:

So it appears that the format for the Windows Classic theme format hasnt changed since 1995!!

Yeah the theme method had been almost exactly the same (the gradient title bar from Windows 98) from Windows 95 to Windows Me until XP came out with visual styles. But still the classic style in both XP and Vista still use the same theme method and are therefore entirely backwards compatible.

The themes were released for Winnt with the resource kit (original). Win2k has themes.exe, but not the corresponding control panel. Ye can integrate this from WIndows 98.

There are differences between the Win95 themes, and the Win98 + later themes. Extra things were added and the format changed slightly.

You could try getting a copy of Windows 95 Plus, and extracting the themes from there, thats your best bet in NT4

It's in the original version of Windows NT4 resource kit.

looks fun, but you can also change the colours of the windows classical theme, and you get the same i think.

If I install the theme, everything including the pointers sounds etc are installed automatically, it is far easier to do it this way, rather than playing around in Control panel !
