As said, my source does not want to disclose the fix (yet), he at least let me make screenshots of it, he easily could said that I couldn't even make screens. Anyway, it lies in somewhere else then ntkrnlmp.exe.

Rob, can I suggest one thing, which would be quite useful? Is it possible that you can include a table of compatibility of all betas in various VMs to see which VM software is best for specified OS?

If you look at the /beta, you can see in which program I installed it and works. Note that I never install any tools, this is an plain windows installation in there.
But here is an simple chart in which I used it and confirmed working.
DR5/Alpha/Beta = PCem 1/2/3 = VPC 2004/7 (is it an mix) 95/98/me = VPC 2004 NT 3/4/2000 = VPC 2004 2000RTM / xp / server 2003 (early ones) = VPC 2007 XP / Server 2003 / Vista / Server 2008 / 7 / Server 2008 and others that are based on these = VMWare 7 (Player is free, Workstation is paid)

Windows 1.00 Beta fully works on Virtual PC and VMware (but the bootscreen is screwed)
EDIT: Maybe the source of that fix (Build 2509) will be available by the time Windows XP gets unsupported

It is build on embedded. This version does not contain specific ThinPC components (if there are any), looks just like an scaled download embedded version, ready to install.

So where you get this? From the image from Windows Embedded standard or not?

Extract the files from the .MSI files or just use the Hounsell's Extracted Drivers and install them manually via Device Manager. But it is correct, I almost never install vmware tools, I just use the extracted drivers.
Also, everything currently on my site is done in either PCem, Virtual PC 2004/2007, VMWare 7.1.3 (latest is now 7.1.4, just installed it). For Aero, only VMWare can do it currently, and Virtualbox is not working correctly anymore with 's from 4.0.x
