Please, I want to use the Whistler icons from shell32.dll on my XP. I know most of them are the dame, but I prefer the Whistler ones, e.g. the Recycle bin and the Favorites folder icon.

Try copying Whistler's shell32.dll to XP.

OK I've downloaded them, but the shell32 files are in DL_ format and when I rename them to .DLL they don't function. And installing Whistler is out of the question as I don't want to install Virtual Machine because they are crap.

You need to extract the file first. DL_ is a compressed file.

Which build do you want them from?

Any of the early Luna versions will do.

Extract the ISO to a folder, go to CMD, move to the ISO folder and then type: expand shell32.dl_ shell32.dll. Then you will get the actual file...

I tried renaming the .dl_ file to .dll and it wouldnt extract. help? I want to do this too!

It's a .cab file, not a .dll file... Rename the file to shell32.cab and extract it. Merp.

You aren't supposed to rename anything... Just use the expand utility in the command line.

Somehow I doubt cabinet files are PE/COFF files.
