Is it me or Microsoft Plus! 95 was included in Windows 98 by default? I had 98 on my first machine and I remember the Plus! 95 themes such as "Inside Your Computer" were in 98 by default. Microsoft Plus! 98, on the other hand had some themes that were not included in Windows 98 and I don't remember them at all. Why did Win 98 include a Plus! pack by default? I think that was totally cool at the time, and it was for free, while you had to pay for the Plus! pack for 95 and XP.

Microsoft Plus! 98 wasn't free for 98 first edition but was included on some OEM 98 Second Edition CDs. I also have a 95C CD with Plus! 95 on it. Was Plus! free? I assume it was included in the price so it might have seemed to be free.

Windows 98 included all of the enhancements included in Plus! for Windows 95. The Pinball game was not installed by default, but included on the Windows 98 CD. Plus! 95 was for Windows 95, so it naturally was included in 98. Plus! 98 was the addon product for Windows 98. Some Plus! 98 features such as Compressed folders and the Spider Solitaire game were included in Windows Me and later Windows versions. The Deluxe CD Player was included with Windows 2000. (And you can install Plus! 98 on Windows Millennium Edition) ;)

As xpclient said, each new release of Windows has integrated features from previous version's Plus! pack... I don't see why it's such a big deal, but it's an interesting discussion.

I tried installing Plus! SuperPack on my XP machine and it broke my theme engine (it was OK after my reinstall).

Are you refering to the pinball game in the \cdsample\demos\pinball\ folder on the 98SE CD?

The Windows 98 CD Has an INF that can be used to install the pinball game from a Plus! 95 CD, but does not provide the files.

Oh, And one more thing you missed out: The Pinball Game from Plus! 95 is also included in Windows XP as well!

It is included in Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows Me and the INF on 98 CD so I didn't feel the need to mention it's there in XP too :) although the XP version fixes a 100% CPU consumption bug: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/arc ... 98882.aspx
