Vista was a step in the right direction but it was rushed. Vista SP2 has basically no issues.
As far as Windows 8 goes it'll probably be poorly received at first but grow on people. As a tablet owner I'm ready to embrace it immediately but I agree on the desktop it's a little intrusive. The biggest issue is the start screen which doesn't make anything more complicated really, it's more or less like the start menu is full screen now. It's definitely unnecessary but it isn't an enormous problem.

My opinions, I didn't really think that there was anything wrong with vista personally.Yes it had its faults but so did the other OS in the past like Win ME.Also just like Tandyman100 said,It had a fantastic layout.
Now with Windows 8,I quite like the new metro layout,I mean the same sort of layout was here since after win 3.0 and i think we need a change every so often. Also im not going to criticize Win 8 yet.Its better to wait Until its final release to judge it which would seem much more fair.

I really thought everyone did this, slows down your computer like an anchor.
ANYWAY, Vista SP1 I've heard was ME 2.0, now while I don't hate it THAT much, I have to agree that the next Service Pack did fix a lot of problems. Vista, despite me and its differences, did get along very well, but UAC still made me mad, even if it made my computer safer in Windows 7.

This always amuses me. Such a contradiction. Invariably, some of the reasons people "love" 7 are the same reasons they "hate" Vista, such as security and stability. When both are pretty much identical in these respects.

The double irony is that ME was crap because it was based on outdated technology while its business-class version was based on NT 5.0, and Vista was (initially, it got better) crap because it was using a whole new version of NT. Assuming the same will happen to Windows 8 is just bad logic.

I did not hate vista but I certainly did not like it all the time as well. My main issue with it was the display driver used to crash for me during DVD or gaming (Maybe not vista's fault) but apart from that it was a very good operating system.
As for you thinking windows 8 will fail, I have to disagree. At first its weird then after using it starts to make sense and you will start miss it when you go back to win xp/vista/7

Can I just point out how stupid it is that you keep trashing Windows 8 in every thread about it, yet you list the DP as your "Favourite OS"? Make up your mind.

Yeah, the DP is my favorite OS, then Microsoft trashes it with CP and RP.

Sense this not make does. Let me guess: Windows Developer Preview is your favorite OS because they hadn't gotten rid of the Start Menu at that point?
I'm not sure why, but DP was my favourite too for a while (nand I didn't disable startscreen), I just liked the look and feel. Now I'm fine with CP and RP, and I'm waiting for the real thing (with no transparency). I think the final release will be the best.

The CP and RP were full of bugs, I don't know why, but it seemed that the DP had fewer bugs...

Yes, because half the features hadn't yet been enabled in the DP. When they WERE enabled (Windows Store in CP, everything else in RP), bugs came up that needed to be ironed out. This is a normal part of development.

I've had no problems with Windows Vista except driver issues, but these were solved relatively quickly. The problems weren't due to the operating system, per se, but because this computer is newer than the version of Vista that I had installed (Windows Vista RTM on a computer built in Q2 2008).
It runs beautifully and it has almost all of Windows 7's features, It's a shame it got such a bad reputation for no fault of its own.

Vista was ment to be the future of Windows, with all the new nifty features but Microsoft ditched the Longhorn code and started from scrath, when it was released it had poor reviews, and many people who bought Vista downgraded back to XP, Microsoft quickly fixed the issue by releasing Windows 7 (the big brother of Windows XP ) Windows 8 may just be Windows Vista's brother I dont see how metro could be used on a desktop unless its touchscreen..

Try actually using it. It's no worse than the Taskbar/Start Menu combo.

Windows Vista was and is the future of Windows. Windows 7 is the "big brother" of Windows Vista, not Windows XP. I despise when people say things like that... Windows Vista introduced several features, enhancements, improvements that make it the worthy successor to Windows XP. Without Windows Vista we wouldn't even have a "Windows 7"!

Well when I said Windows 7 is the big brother of Windows 7 I ment that because Windows XP was a success as it was adopted by many buisnesses, while Vista was a fail, since that XP is losing support in 2014 7 is the step up..

My apologies for the misunderstanding. I interpreted your post as an attempt to make Windows Vista sound less significant. The reason I interpreted it this way is because I've read so many posts, reviews, etc that state Windows 7 is "the worthy successor to Windows XP." Windows Vista is.

Clearly Vista sucks, since it even has a very simple and **** bug. It crashes when I try to open a .ZIP file without the appropriate software instead of reminding me. Is it after 5 years of development does Microsoft did this crap?
