Seriously, I think Aero is overrated and needs to go away. Bling-bling glass effects are so yesterday. And Metro looks a lot better - it's flat and uncluttered. The reason I still use XP is that it's less overstyled than Vista and 7. That's why I'll skip Vista and 7 and go to Windows 8. Anyone agree?

Why would you think this about the glass? It looks really good. I like the new metro UI aswell, it really goes to shoe that Microsoft aren't afriad to try new things. Unlike apple, where they find something and release the same product with a minor touch up every few months.

They moved the clutter from the space domain to the time domain. Now the delay is guaranteed. Good work MS. This is the first Windows release that is seriously making me consider switching to Linux.

I personally like it. It makes more sense to me than the Aero interface (where it can take me ten minutes to figure out how to change a setting), and I find the lack of shininess helps me focus when I'm trying to work.

You have to remember that in the time microsoft released 3 Major OS upgrades… Apple released 5…
Personally, I find the Metro UI Ugly. I like Aero better… And I'm not even fond of Aero…

That's like that people who like metro haven't used Windows XP/2000/NT4, Windows 9x and Windows 3.x. You should do that and find out that they are much more user-friendly that this metro.

Metro is oversimplified and ugly because of use of plain solid colors and white icons. The Zune iteration of Metro is beautiful. And Aero is far more beautiful and definitely needs to stay as an *option*. Unfortunately Microsoft is smitted by Metro Mania (TM).

The first computer I used regularly had Windows 3.11. The next one had Windows 98. The third one had Windows 2000. The fourth had XP. The fifth and sixth had Vista and 7, respectively. I have used just about every Microsoft UI (other than BOB). I still like Metro. As a matter of fact, I like it more than any other interface I've used. Try to think through your assertions before you make them. I understand that you're a fan of the older Microsoft OSes (as shown by your other posts on this forum), but you seem to assume that anyone who likes Metro is a Microsoft n00b who likes it because they don't know any better. Some of us genuinely like its style and interface methods. I'm not saying either of us is "right", but it'd be nice if you could respect the opinions of those who disagree with you.

Personally I like more 7 style... metro interface makes a pc look like one of those early smartphones (also newer WP7..) and reduces much available options... I don't hate it, simply I want a pc to look like a fully featured computer, not some tennager's pc that has only cool graphics and runs games and facebook... as for you, upgrading from XP days ot's not only a matter of graphics... newer OS's have many more features and support newer applications and even if my desktop is preserved with XP, I have a partition to run 7 if it's needed...

Partly my thoughts… I also think… Isn't this like reverting back to DOS? But with ugly fonts…

I agree that metro is a great GUI: for tablets and touch-based systems, but it is much mor complicated for a mouse and keyboard user. Hopefully, microsoft will see fit to allow users to return to the aero UI if they wish.

2 reasons why I like it:
-You can pin your most used programs (For me it's: Steam, Paint.NET, XChat, Firefox, And Skype) -It gives me a Phone-Like exprience on a PC (A first for me.)
I will still use Explorer though for homework, file organizing, Pictures, etc.

I got a chance to use Metro on a Dell touchscreen, and I have to say that for touch interfaces, it is PERFECT. The simple look makes navigation and use much easier.

True. Aero Lite Glass plus Metro Start Screen and more Taskbar-Friendly StartScreen Button would be awesome. I am wondering how it will look. But do not forget - WDP is not even beta.

I think Metro looks great too. It's also functional with the status buttons. Aero was just a different way to view all of your open windows, and as a selling point for Vista Premium. Another great thing about Metro is that you can switch it back to the "classic" look for windows.
