It's the same thing. In WIM you configure it after installation (which is quick and straight-forward), in i386 you do it in between...

Actually, WIM has nothing to do with these. They are moved to the OOBE part of setup since build 4001, so the installation doesn't pause just because it is waiting for the user to input settings.

I already stated pros and cons of WIM and I386 types on page 2, and it is the only main differences. But yeah, SATA drivers still are integrated automatically using nLite in the I386 setup.
