Hello, Windows 8 Build 8102 many of us tried it, but some of us didn't like the new Start Menu and Wanted The Windows 7 Start Menu Back, I'm one of those. So i created a tool for "Switching between Windows 8 Start Menu and Windows 7 Start Menu" hoping you will find it useful The tool is free of course, no viruses, clean and safe Maybe Microsoft will give you the choice to switch between them but that would be in future copies (I said MAYBE) So right now i suggest to use this tool
Windows 8 Start Menu Switcher is a tool for switching between the Windows 7 Start Menu and Windows 8 Start Menu By clicking "Windows 7 Style" You will be able to use Windows 7 Start Menu... "Windows 8 Style" Will switch back to Windows 8 Start Menu
Notes : When using this tool, Task Manager will be switched to Windows 7 task manager style too.

Well to balance the negativity... Thank you. A nice simple tidy program to switch between the options instantly at a click? Great. I love the new UI but it's still nice to have an easy to use option.

Well, i would prefer DOS command prompt than this Win8 menu. Microsoft will not release any better OS than Windows 7.
In my point of view, give them more time to listen for suggestions/feedback and make conclusion for the RTM version is better do it now. WDP doesn't even reach beta yet.

It should have that one to be built-in on watching back to Start menu, or change it back to Start screen button on later builds. But in my opinion, I like the previous Start menu, but I still like the new Start screen.

How come do you have the new Start orb with the Immersive UI disabled? After I went to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer and set the value of the RPEnabled DWORD from 1 to 0 and then restarted Windows, I got the Windows 7-style Desktop UI, including the Start orb from Windows 7!

This statistics by Microsoft are totally [censored]! I use the start day by day, and now It's deleted because some kids don't use it ? Metro on a non - touch pc is stupid! Metro is so useful for a Developer Or a Manager (sarcasm). I think I have to switch, and many others too ... A Windows without start is like Steve jobs would join Microsoft.
Windows 8 will flop... Ms rename the OS in Windows for Touch 8 Or so ....

For me tooks the same time do things and navigate through start menu on Windows 7 than on Windows 8. Metro UI is good even if it is on a computer without touch screen.

Where has the Start Menu been removed in Windows 8? As much as it has been redesigned, the same was also true of Windows Vista (codenamed "Longhorn", as almost everyone involved in its development knows), even as far back as some of the earlier Longhorn builds, not to mention that even Windows XP was the same way, with exception to when the Classic Start Menu was enabled. That being said, being updated and redesigned most certainly does NOT proclude being the Start Menu.
As for the Programs folder, in Windows 8, the Start screen is the Programs menu. It's still the same feature, just that it has been significantly redesigned.
Also, this is of no offence to Ahmed Nefzaoui, of whom even posted this topic in the first place, nor is it of any offence to anyone else really, just that those of whom believe that the Start Menu has somehow been "removed" in Windows 8, just because of it's large scale redesign, are highly mistaken.

I am terribly afraid that was has been going with Metro was, Ballmer overhears a Jobs keynote where he says back to the Mac: several iOS features will go back into the Mac OS X codebase. misunderstanding that those features had to be chosen, and then adapted into something meaningful on a desktop computer, completely ignoring the detail that an iPhone, or even an iPad, don't look, feel and work the same way a laptop, or desktop computer does, the smart Microsoft CEO decided that having the same UI on both a phone and a computer and a tablet is the most sensible thing to do, and he could get there first, while Apple proceeded to carefully pick each individual feature.

You can see the screenshots on the top of this thread. I'm interested why Ahmed Nefzaoui can do this too.
I expect he's swapped the resources in explorer.exe, as you would on Win7.
No idea why anyone would want to do this. Stick with Windows 7 if progress scares you. Hell, I bet some in this thread are so scared of progress they still cling to their XP installs.

Well, how to put this... okay, maybe this so-called "Metro" good for normal PC's, but WHAT I can do with this thing on SERVER??? I now running Win8 Server DP and it has Metro UI enabled by default. Please, William Henry Gates Jr., come back and save MS from themselves.
