The 2.01 is a thing that was released on Dec 09/87.

According to http://pctimeline.info/windows/ and its sources, microsoft started shipping 2.01 indeed at 9 december 1987, and updated it to 2.03 at January 1988. 2.01 was on sale only for a month, therefore it is so rare.
So, I think versions mentioned as 2.0 and 2.00 there actually are 2.01, since MS never sold 2.00. I think the one who want to pay for it need to mail seller before for all details. If we get no luck with os2museum author, we still have an option...

I can't understand anything at all. Even Microsoft's history page tells on december, 9 was release windows 2.03, the same tell many sources....

Os2museum has boxed copy of it, so it is indeed retail version. Dunno why 2.01 doesn't appears in official chronicles, but I incline to believe official 2.01 delivering started 9 december, and then it was replaced by 2.03.

EDIT:
Well, just looked my 2.03 files, and all them dated november 1987, and os2museum auther told his 2.01 copy is from september 1987... So I don't know where is the truth. I was sure 2.03 release has files from 1988 (that is right for oem releases though).

I think even Microsoft don't mention this version (2.01) much and I never know it exists before I read this thread.
