Favourite OS Windows XP SP3
The oldest OS I used was MS-DOS 6.0 + Win 3.1, I remember setting up DOS to play DOOM on it at a neighbor's computer. I also used DOS at school, Win95/98 was already available at the time, but teachers were old school (thank god for that). Back in the days, we always carried a box of floppies to trade games. Good old ARJ days!
Using old OSes in VM is mostly for nostalgia in my case, so it doesn't count as real use for me.

Hello everyone, this marks my first post here (so please forgive me if this is the wrong category, as my post is not exclusively about beta versions of MS-DOS or Windows - sorry!).
For myself, the oldest Microsoft operating system that I own and have used is MS-DOS 2.0.
Here's a picture I snapped of the diskette (360k 5.25" floppy, it looks like it used to say 2.12 but someone crossed it out and wrote 2.0 on there. I have no idea why this was done): http://www.betaarchive.com/imageupload/ ... .16453.JPG
You can check out MS-DOS 2.0 in action through this video I made, where I tested some viruses on it for fun (one of my favorite hobbies and the point of my main YouTube channel):
So how about everyone else? It doesn't matter if it's in a virtual machine, testing purposes or you legitimately used them in a real-life situation, just post about it! Bonus points for pictures of original installation media.
MS-DOS 4.01. Nowadays I use MS-DOS 7 for my old PC's

The oldest by far that I have personally used is most likely Windows 95. It was on a Toshiba laptop, which had a bad 20MB RAM expansion card, but when it did work, it could run 98.

A HP Windows 98 for sure. Our family used it till 2007, changed to a Dell Vista, broke down in 2009, changed to a HP 7, broke down (CPU and circuit board burnt) in 2012, and changed to another 7 HP computer.

I managed to get hold of a disk image of PC-DOS 1.1, which is technically at least a MicroSoft adaption for IBM, even if it's branded IBM and old enough to be mainly written by SCP, so that's my oldest emulated MS OS. Oldest ran on hardware? Well, that would have to be Windows 3.1/MSDOS 5.0 as a kid (upgraded to Windows for Workgroups 3.11/MSDOS 6.22 fairly early on, but I still experienced the previous installations). We kept our old Win311 machine running as a main PC 'til we got a second-hand Windows '95 machine in about 1997, but the Win311 machine was bought when new! An 80486DX clocked at 33MHz felt really fast back then!
Oldest for Non-MS? Well for hardware rather than emulation it would have to be my Speccy. Emulated? Who knows what the oldest is - possibly the Educ8 Minicomputer?

I vaguely recall using some sort of text-mode program manager originally, but I can not recall the name of it (it had a largely blue background, two columns of programs listed).
