ahh, are you sure there is an actual RSOD for Memphis?

EDIT - there is but I don't know of a way to trigger it, I think it has to do with a boot loading errors

Press Start --> Run, type /com/con and you'll get a BSOD. It's DOS' system virtual path. 9x is hybrid - DOS 'n Windows, so this BSOD appears.

All it does on my 2000 system is pop up a message. :(

This is from a Memphis Build. Please note, that Windows 98 also has GSOD's (Green Screens of Death), which occur on graphics card problems, but I haven't found a screenshot of it yet. ;)

Thanks! i wonder, how does Memphis distinguish problems that need a normal BSOD and problems that call up a RSOD?

Well, usually, ACPI problems will trigger a RSOD, graphics problems will trigger a GSOD, other problems will trigger a BSOD, and corrupted boot files will trigger a black SOD (just black screen with cursor blinking on the top left side of it). ;)

If I was to be working on my computer, and that randomly popped up, I'd probably faint.

Maybe it should be called "Memphis: Our Critical Error Screens are over the Rainbow"

I hope that wasn't offensive to anyone :-)

First post! Relative newbie to the beta scene, think I've hit the jackpot with this site!

Yea, and there is also a White Screen of Death ; but it isn't Windows Based, you see it on cell phones alot if they freeze.

Some Vista pre-releases also got a RSoD. And Vista/7 displays a black screen when there are problems with the startup, but i don't think that is anything to care off.

I've had a BlackSOD on Win95, think it was corrupted system files preventing the boot of the OS. DOS is buggy - It always has a Black SOD;)

I took that screenshot some time ago, it differs a little bit from Battlers screen....
I can't remember which build it was, but I think it was an early build (1423 or something like that)..
