Contents that includes my files (Mac emu, VMs, abandonware archive, etc.) inside my computer/laptop will be backup every month, including the CD images from my CDs that I have.

As of right now, I only back up installation files of software and games. I don't backup already installed software but you know installers. Never ever backed up any OS yet but I should though.

I need a new external hard disk. My current backup disk is a 200GB FAT32 affair, which is running out of space. I don't have much to back up, but I backed up today.

Once I get a new power supply with more than 1 power connection I'm going to stick this awesome 1 Tb drive in my computer and use that as my back up drive rather than backing up over a cross over cable to my server which has 450 Gb of hard drive space.

I got a 10TB WHS v1 rig that backs up my home network every night. That's 4 laptops and 2 HTPCs all over gigabit / Wireless N for the laptops. I do manual backups of the Server itself to an external USB drive occasionally, but the OS isn't the critical part of my server, the data is, so I have duplication turned on for everything.

Man I just had a really bad nightmare. I was sitting with my notebook on the bad watching some movies, I dreamed I had a SSD and a normal HDD in it (which I have in my normal PC) and then suddenly my HDD went tick tick tick and wasn't accessible anymore, drive C: through F: were greyed out in My Computer (I‘m running Linux…) and error boxes were spread all over the place, then the notebook turned off. After turning on, I thought it was all fine but then after a short time, again C: through F: were inaccessible and error messages appeared. After asking for help in Ubuntu IRCs for hours I screwed the drive open and saw there was some really serious headcrash. And in the dream I was saying one day earlier "Well it‘s time for a backup but I‘m gonna do it tomorrow" and then the HDD died.
Is it a premonition? I would have to get up as late as 10.30 but this really freaked me out, so I just started a complete HDD backup.

I have a WD MyBook 4TB hard drive on RAID so it mirrors and have about 1TB of Photos, Final Cut Video, iTune movies, music and TV on it. I have another 1TB MyBook backing up with CarbonCopy Cloner the iMac HD and I have the Time Capsule backing up the iMac HD and the MyBook with the TV and Movies etc on. On top of this I have Backblaze, which costs about $50 a year and it backs everything I think is important (Final Cut work, photos etc) online! Just in case there's a fire or break-in.
Am I going too far? As I wrote this, I think I am maybe a bit obsessive!? LOL....

Not recently but I am about to, I had a Seagate external 360GB 3.5 inch drive which failed (power surge) and lost 4 months of photos and videos due to not backing up for 4 months, what a mistake. I need to back up my 1TB drive as it has a website I have been working on for over a year and many people are waiting to see, all my photos and videos I have taken. Trying to work out how to back it up since the size of the stuff on it is around 60GB. Putting them on 6 or 7 dual layer DVDs and backed images and website to my 300GB 2.5 inch external drive so needs separate backup.

I only back up (obsessively) as I have thousands of family photos and lots of bought music etc and I would be devastated if I lost them through a physical HD failure or housebreaking.

Last backup was somewhere in January, when I installed Ubuntu on PC. I just save stuff to my WD External 1TB drive. I've almost freaked out when I've bought that hell, it was broken and almost caused loss of 98% of my content. Good thing I've managed to recover everything and get new one for free.

I don't really backup to hard drives much, I prefer to use cloud offerings for most things, I do however backup my entire OS by imaging it to my external hard drive, makes for a better & quicker way if anything goes pear shaped in the future, I do a fresh install around every 6 or so months, just to keep the system fresh & speedy, well that's what I like to think anyway
I have a few USB sticks with my music collection and applications backed up on, they are kept safe & I have a duplicate USB kept somewhere else for a worst case scenario.

Nope, i haven't. I haven't backed up anything. Anything important is either stored on my dropbox or too big for me to backup.

I just made a system image of my computer after an ESET installation completely screwed up my system, no net and freezes. Thankfully I got rid of it and after I installed another antivirus I backed up everything to my other HDD. 68 GB, took like 15 minutes.

I do have a backup but it is about two months old. The HDD is only 160gb (out of old laptop) and that is shared between me and someone else! I should really invest in a bigger external hard disk.
