Hey,

I realize that this may not be one of the best topics but I need to find out what my friends laptop model is before tomorrow.

My memory fails me, but here are the specs that I remember...

1) It was a Samsung R model (i believe)
2) Has 160GB Hard Drive
3) 32-Bit Windows 7 comes preinstalled
4) Screen size is 15.6"
5) The keyboard is black with a shiny silver frame around it
6) Hes had it for at least 2 years (free from off the government from benefits and such)
7) Its got an Intel Celeron (Dual Core?) processor

He wants me to re install windows on there, but I need to know if there are any drivers I need beforehand. So a similar model drivers may fit the ones required by his laptop. I know this sucks but Ive been looking and samsung dont seem very backwards compatable, they are very "in with the new and out with the old"

Thanks

Sounds like a very typical Samsung, you basically described the look of my mom's Samsung (15.6", AMD A6-3420M, 400 gig HDD).

The odds are that if it has a Celeron, the Intel GMA driver will have the proper driver for the video. Wireless is probably Atheros, as my mom's laptop has an Atheros card. The network is usually Realtek on entry level laptops, so that's probably what's in there.

If your installing Windows 7 most of the time 90% of drivers made after 2003 are detected automatically and either right away install or the drivers will show in windows update. If your installing anything other then that, use Driver Doctor which is free.

ah fair enough, im a bit skeptical about using the program, but i wont be able to run it anyway unless i have his laptop, and if i have his laptop then ill be able to check the product numbers. his laptop isnt connected to the internet, there are restrictions that stop him getting out let alone download anything. Well ill intall windows and see how that goes... Thanks for the advice!
