Yes, every one of those thought that once registered on BA, they would gain access to the FTP. It's a shame though that almost none of them does anything to actually get it, only a few are writing some posts.

I think this is completely absurd. If you have noticed, this forum jumped a lot with the beta leak of Windows 7 and now Windows 8. I know it takes more time, but I honestly think that Andy should change it to at least 20 posts and have more mods check for spam. Half of the people that got FTP access went in, got Windows 8, and in about a week they will be banned. The other thing is that these people are reviving threads from years ago, and I think we should just start locking those.

Maybe some sort of script to lock threads older than 2 months?

Exactly what I was thinking. And I just checked the Members list, about the first 15 or so pages are full of users who joined within a week with 0 posts.

Yeah, that's because Andy's already pruned them, though the site will lose members. Still, I do think there should be some extra enforcement ah and also take in account leakers, I know one which name I won't reveal as he's still a normal member.

Ok. This topic is about a new user leak, not about FTP help. And traffic isn't the problem. Leeching is. People have lost their jobs and reputations to contribute to this site's collection. What do you think happened to the person who leaked Windows 8? That person was/is being fired and they will be sued for copyright. Why should someone join this site, take one or two files, and never come back?

no one knows who leaked Windows 8, and i doubt microsoft will be that harsh, they learnt from sony.

thats true, its crap people do nothing and get into the servers, they get exactly 10 posts and then request access. Also i bet the windows 8 builds are long since taken from the servers and are distributed elseware now...

They're just interested people. We will see a new-user-boom when an important leak occurs. I agree with MugenFox, setting the requirement to 20 posts is a good idea.

We'll still get the same thing. The users that come here just for the leak and don't read the rules will just make 20 random posts instead of 10 and then apply. They don't read that they have to be contributing.

Well I don't have proof but I have logic/common sense. Would you be too happy if you worked on something for an extremely long time and someone just took it when it was almost finished and gave it away? I know I wouldn't be very happy.

Making 10 posts with high quality is okay. If you make 10 posts 'I like it!' or 'Do u like Win8' you won't gain access to FTP, will you?

Why? You are proving my point that new users come here to leech. If you actually want to be a part of a forum, you won't mind 20 posts. If you wanna leech, you will. I don't mind making 400+ posts and neither do some of the people with thousands. They like the forum and don't just come here to leech.
