Sorry, could anyone be so kind as to tell is there any way to replace Win7 Start (Orb) Button with XP one? I mean the button which was used in XP themes, Longhorn 5048 and Vista 5112?


All 7 themes with XP style have either the orb or an ugly cut Start Button.

Also, is there any way to set XP themes on 7 and make 7 to be like XP / Longhorn (not Jade/Slate but Plex and 5048 theme) / Vista Beta?

thats because XP's button is stretched and low height
while 7's is both short in height and width (like square)

Yes, you can replace Explorer with the file from there (to set Vista orb).

Well, so i was speaking about extending that frame.

extend it with empty space

I mean to extend it in such way that it will be possible to set XP Button.

The sizing is all hardcoded in explorer, so it requires a healthy dose of hex-editing.

Coppermine, if you find the Longhorn explorer is the wrong size, send me the width of your start button and I'll throw together a new one. The only requirement is that it's a multiple of three.

Apart from that being irrelevent to the topic (It's talking about going in the wrong direction), it just looks terrible and is technically inferior to the proper implementation. If you want the superbar, run Windows 7.
