Just another thing. Why is this topic in "Operating System Customization" section? :?

Jesus people, you had post all that crap in my topic? 8-)

@prayaas1998: ask mrpijey, he moved it here IIRC.

@smartboyhw: if you want to continue development then start your own project. The source code will not be available.

<irony>Your post is offtopic too and continues to spam this topic.</irony>

I'll be back with a new build to show, but for now this is it.

Just a random update, here are HTML5 results for build 40 on Windows 8 RP using IE10 (registry key) compared to retail IE10:

Image

So there's an undeniable proof that the registry keys in the form Hounsell provided work. I am now releasing the official registry entries, links:

Windows Vista/7, IE9
Windows 8, IE10

The development is still stopped, I was just testing IE10 compatibility.

And here's the first PDS build I promissed (link is in OP):

Wow! That's cool! Perhaps you could add a progress bar too. ;)

And if anyone has any issues with Poseidon Deployment System, they should contact me since I am the one developing it.

@prayaas1998: that and more is comming in the next build. ;)

Anyway, as linuxlove said, any issues with PDS should be adressed to him, he did all the code and most of UI, I just made some changes to the UI so it's a bit more "organized".

BTW, the PDS is really good. But DeFacto, you really should learn from prayaas1998 on the setup. His screenshots are better than yours.

He made the setup with another program; me and linuxlove wrote it ourselves...

Also, I recommend you stop pushing it with linuxlove being demoted, otherwise you might get another warning...

I suppose you need an installer for a browser, but I personally prefer to just have it as a portable app, since its only one .exe and one .dll anyway (plus a few registry keys I guess but still). And yeah, the hounsell's registry keys sure worked well.

For a temp. Stopped project this thread is quite active *hehe*

linuxlove demoted and left :? -didn't realise until I read smartboyhw's somewhat offensive post. Sad. EDIT: Found info here. And I'll :-#

Yeah, my installer is actually a 3rd party program. ;)
It installs a lot of registry keys and has tons of files to copy, so..

But you know what? The Segoe UI Light font on this PDS looks brilliantly amazing! :)

Neither did I notice the thing about linuxlove. I know I should keep silent about this, so.. *zips mouth*

Hey, DeFacto, you should add an option to put the Poseidon browser to the desktop and the quick access bar..... It doesn't do good when I have to go to C:\Program Files(x86)\Poseidon Browser to add the Poseidon.exe to the desktop...

It creates a desktop shortcut... Maybe it sometimes doesn't, but then again, why not use the portable version if it's so bad? 8-)

................. What? You mean that we should actually dump the PDS??? BTW, DeFacto, you should really give options to people, e.g. YES/NO to create shortcuts...

No, I'm saying if you're not satisfied (most of the time you aren't) with PDS, then use the portable version. Please consider inserting the following fact into your head:

-This is pre-release software, nowhere near the final product, of course it will change to better

Just a suggestion on the options one. Anyway, I will be waiting for you for Build 44.

I prefer the previous logo, especially since you can't really use this one on icons etc.

Splash screen is a dumb thing to have in a browser, hence why all major browser dropped it long ago. It slows down the startup and adds no functionality to the program itself... Hence why I didn't bother making one and never will. It is simply against the basic principles of Metro (simple, clean, modern)...

OK everybody, the project is back in action. I decided to shorten the development process, so builds 44 and 47 that were scheduled for release after 40 and are part of Alpha 1 stage will be skipped, instead we're moving directly onto Alpha 2 with it's first build 50. Please note that in the future I will avoid Alpha 1 & 2 stages competely to speed up the dev process. ;)

Anyway, since I'm back working on Poseidon, here' what's comming in build 50:

  • Two new color options (purple and turquoise)
  • Setup Assistant improvements
  • Settings dialog improvements
  • WebM HTML5 Codec is displayed among other extensions
  • Fixed bug when re-opening from tray icon (window now maximizes)
  • Some context menu updates are now enabled and working
  • Other bug fixes and enhancements

So stay tuned for more info and download links. ;)
