I reckon it won't; still on XP and never seen them but you could copy them out of a 3xxx Longhorn build.

Some files about the Longhorn login screen might exist in the Longhorn Transformation Pack.(I only suppose I am not sure.)

well, i meant that it is simply impossible to do it with moving resources from the one folder to the other and adjust them a little bit with a simple reshacker, it would need more effort than that. you may prove me wrong on that point though.

From what I've heard about the Longhorn Clock, it sounds like the things you need is Windows XP source code, Longhorn 3xxx source code, Microsoft C compilers and a whole lot of hard drive space.

Nah.
It's a pretty simple clock that by itself, isn't hard to replicate.

However, "hacking it in" to the current logon screen is pretty much a no-go.

The "simplest" route would be to create a new GINA in C++. That'd be a substantial effort just to acheive a clock though.

It's in 3683, 3706, 3718 and 4008.

Correct,

This is a problem build, there is an bug in this versions PE (Preinstallation Environment) this leads to uninstallable build from the original disc.
Workaround:

1) Open the 4011 and extract \sources\install.wim
2) Open 4008 and delete \sources\install.wim
3) Insert the 4011 install.wim into 4008 \sources\ folder
4) Save and install, it should work now.

But now you have the same problem as 4008, you must apply the diskpart/format trick before installing (at welcome to setup menu

Actually, yeh. 4011 too. Forgot about that build - 4015 introduces the "new" Login screen.

You need your virtual HDD to already contain a NTFS partition because if you try to create+format one from Setup, you'll end-up with a bunch of errors.

SHIFT+F10 I believe will open cmd from inside Setup. Type diskpart /? and read the instructions.

I'm pretty sure you'd have to modify it yourself.
