Hello everyone!
Tell me, does anyone still use BBS like in the old days?
All's i could find was Fidonet and other things related with mailing lists and numbers.
I'm trying to recreate the environnement for a specific port me and my team are working on.
Instead of using IRC we would be using BBS that would be integrated in the client.
Any sources/SDK available for this sort of chat system?
Would it be even worth it to try?

--EDIT--
How would one recreate the environment without the need for dial up? Telnet would be used by the client.

Well, I was already interested for this, basically you would need a virtual modem or something your other computer can dial-up.

Check out synchronet .. its' DOVENET network is still active. And it's all open source now, from the DOS / OS/2 product to the later Win32/Linux stuff ...

Some people use physical modems, but most either have stuff setup to telnet, or use telnet - fossil type stuff...

Check the vintage computing communities, some members periodically put some up for old times sake. But none stay up for long because there are no longer enough users to make the costs of dedicated phone lines worthwhile.
