I have a Toshiba Tecra A1 (Just A1, not A100 or anything) and it litterally does nothing. Won't turn on, and the LEDs don't even light up at all when plugged in. I tried all methoods of booting with the bare minimum (just a motherboard and monitor and PSU) and just the motherboard itself. no beep codes, no fans. just stone dead. I hope someone has laptop experience (I am a desktop master, but not with laptops)

soulds like a dead battery or power supply your going to need to get new power supply and/or a new battery if no luck then then it may be that the power input is damaged then you would need to replace that if you can but apart from that there is nothing much we can do here because it's stone dead there is no way to tell if it's the CPU RAM or GPU

well It could be the power brick, but it has a connector that is different from my other toshiba laptops, I don't have one that fits it. I was told the battery is good, but why would it not work with no battery when its plugged in, the battery isn't in use. my other laptops have different battery packs, so thats out of the question. And the RAM is fine, same with the CPU and GPU, the light that used to come on indicating its plugged in doesn't even flash. no life at all. finding an adapter will be a pain though, but I'll see if I can find one.

yea, I'm giving up on it. It doesn't even have anything to do with Betas or anything (aside from the fact it had Windows Whistler build 5711 on it) Its not very good anyway.

You could test the electrical wiring using a multimeter. It could be that the battery is dead along with the power brick, or some other wiring issue. If the laptop is getting power then maybe its a bad capacitor.

Laptop caps are pretty difficult to replace, it might even cost more for the cap than the thing is worth. I'll test the adapter and see if it works. but they couldn't both be dead...

Hi!
I think you need to buy a new one.
Your Laptop has got a Eide, or sata HDD?

Hopefully its just the adapter or the power plug. On the DC output side of many chargers the wiring isn't very thick so its possible that a wire is damaged.

Hello!
If you have (or friend, or service with voltmeter) plug in the adapter to 230V, and the other end dont plug into the laptop.
Check the adapter output with voltmeter. ;)
