UPDATE: MediaFire link here : http://www.mediafire.com/file/85qxx488d6ngsbu/VoiceTime1.zip Since the old thread was probably in the wrong section and I didn't update it for some time, I thought this place would be more appropiate to post my update on this little program I've made.
To recap, this simple program basically uses the default system voice to announce the time every hour and half hour (configurable). I've made it because I found it easier to keep track of time this way, as I usually am too focused on other activities to pay attention to the time.
Features : - Announces time every hour or half-hour depending on user choice - Displays pop-up with time, for added visibility - Ability to minimize to tray - Theoretical compatibility with all .net2.0 supporting OSes and SAPI (that is, through Windows 98 up to Windows 7 SP1) - Announcements on log on/off, shutdown events using the current username (experiences may vary)
Not much to show really, as its all in the sound :
- Added "The time is ", for all announcements. - "[hour] o'clock" replaces the old "[hour] zero" announcement for full hours - About dialog box now shows program version via Application.ProductVersion instead of being manually entered
I know that waiting one hour just to see how this works probably isn't everyone's cup of tea, so, please give your feedback : should I upload a sound recording (using MS Anne) or include a testing option that says the time on demand ?
As for anything else, tell me what do you think about it : pros/cons, extra settings, new features, bugs, compatibility issues, anything useful, please tell me !

Thanks! Also, just confirmed that it works in Windows Millenium :
In order for it to work, you'd need to install .NET Framework 2.0 (plus Windows Installer 2.0 as prerequisite) and SAPI 5.1 SDK. I haven't tested it on Win98 because Explorer doesn't support baloon tooltips as far as I know (I don't know if its a game breaker or not, but I'll probably check).
Shouldn't have any problems whatsoever with 2000 or XP if it runs on Me. The only difference in behaviour from Vista (dev platform) is in the launch time, but that's probably to be expected for all managed code running in 9x systems.
UPDATE: <facepalm> pre-Vista Speech tends to read certain expressions by spelling them : "The time is 3 o single quote clock" instead of "The time is 3 o'clock". Although I've only effectively checked WinMe, I'm certain that 2000 and XP users will be affected by this also. If there is need, I'll release a hotfix, otherwise, it'll come later, when new features are added.

Yes, it should be the blue Download link on the right bar. I'll post alternative links soon.
