Oh boy... Upgrading from Vista, that has more than 2 years from install is road to hell... I suggest you to install a CLEAN copy of system, because Windows 7 is the greatest success of MS. :)

And also when both my friend and I upgraded from Vista to 7 we had more registry errors than entries and that included all errors from no working USB to not even being able to run Office anymore.

Morganhaiden. My eyes hurt. I suggest you to not write every single word on capitals.
Ciastex, you are right, he/she might install a clean copy.

well i fixed it. I called with a REALLY rude phone call to MS. They were rude back! Like really? haha yea fixed it though. But microsofts greatest success was actually Windows 95, so we didint have to use crappy windows 3.1 type OS systems. Could you imagin if Microsoft never did the task bar and it looked like the old Windows edtions like 3.1?

Be polite. Specially to technical support. Rudeness will not help you at all.

Absolutely none...

Anyway, everybody seems to have a hell of a lot of issues when upgrading from Vista to 7, so yes, a clean install is the best option. I've clean-installed Windows 7 quite a few times and it's been absolutely fine. I love this operating system, it does everything fine for me :)

Some people should be forced to take a test before being allowed to buy a computer.

You upgrade from Vista, the worst OS possible and then swear at Microsoft for your own stupidity? Do some research. Or take a few computer lessons, anyone with half a brain knows upgrading is the path to problems and they do not ring MS crying about it, they do a clean install.

Indeed. Upgradable operating systems were never properly implemented. It would be fine if the installer just kept all non-system-files (strictly) and then installed a new version of Windows, but no! It had to keep all registry keys, and DLL references, and BLAH BLAH BLAH, and it just fails.

I don't upgrade I always do a clean install, since it makes for a clean start, I also do a clean install of the OS every year just to start fresh.

You need to do some research about upgrading Windows before you pass the blame. First off you should always do a clean install, never do an upgrade. Even upgrade media will allow you to fresh install and still be genuine. Second of all, what are your specs. Older systems from the XP era that don't have the best specs obviously won't run Windows 7 that well. But you may only need a RAM upgrade to get things running smoothly. Also you'll need to make sure you have drivers installed. A bit of research on teh interwebz and you wouldn't need any help. Its a lot easier installing Windows 7 than it was to install older versions of Windows when you needed to know DOS commands.
