Unlike Microsoft Office, OpenOffice is built from the ground up. All applications were thought out before development started.
Microsoft Office has gotten to its application suite by purchasing products and their respective companies. They then cobbled them together to make a cohesive product. This leads to application bloat and inferior PC performance.
LOL WUT. Microsoft never bought anyone else's word processor or spreadsheet software. If they did, the UI of every Microsoft Office program would be totally different.

I find nothing wrong with Microsoft Office, anyway. This guy probably has some sort of grudge against Microsoft XD

No. I doubt it's a grudge against MS, more a complete [censored] who's on to a good thing. Not only is he selling CDs of OpenOffice, he's offering "Direct Download" versions of both his "Ultimate Software Bundle" (a load of generic FOSS) and OpenOffice, for "just" $97 and $39 respectively from his website. He's conning many people who know no better for a quick buck. It's sick.
Look at how many people have bought this already. I wish they know that the could download it for free.
If you read the FAQ thing at the bottom, it appears to have been modified for computer illiterate people. Though $40 is way too expensive.

Q: Hi there, I recently came across your auction and I just have a couple of quick questions (ones you probably get from time to time). I'm just wondering what benefit I'd get from purchasing OpenOffice from you when I can download it completely free and even get support from their own website? Also, after looking over their 'distribution' section it appears that what you're doing is totally fine since you're 'getting out the word' and supplying the software on a DVD and offering support, but isn't $39.97 a little steep of a profit margin from an open platform application? I understand you supply the software on DVD and also offer limited support, so I guess that's where the price comes from I suppose. Please don't take this wrong way as I'm genuinely curious and would like to know. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks and take care, -Scott Feb-15-11 A: Yes, I do get this kind of question from time to time. There are several reasons we sell this software. The main reason people purchase our software is to receive our video & text installation and customization instructions. We provide step-by-step instructions to make this product more compatible with Microsoft Office. In addition, we offer installation support via email, telephone, and remote PC control. You won't get support like this from any other providers. Ah, pricing always comes up. This is the funniest question of all. Yes, I see other sellers selling this same product for $5-$10. Some are successful but selling a $10 product on eBay and shipping a disc basically nets NO return. You have to ship 3-10 times the quantity just to equal the same return. And these sellers usually take much longer to ship the product or don't provide the level of support we do. In any case, I have tested several different price ranges for myself including $9, $19, $29, and $39. Would you believe on all the numbers cheaper than $29 I actually sold less? It sure is funny that I actually lost volume by trying a lower price point. At this point I think I am the highest price point provider of this free software on eBay but I don't mind it. I make fewer sales but I can provide better support to each customer. Our model probably wouldn't work successfully for everyone else but it works for us. Our OpenOffice Product is great but if you want even more value we suggest you checkout our Ultimate Software Bundle. OpenOffice is included and you get 31+ other applications for only $60 more. Now that is a real bargain! You can view the Ultimate Software Bundle in our ebay store: http://www.CrabbyDigital.net. If you have any questions please let me know. Thanks, Crabby Digital

Working VMware Workstation 7 keys. There are tons of YouTube vids, just search "VMware Workstation 7 keys" and they're the top results. Not legal, I know, but who can stop you now?
