In the recent release of Windows Developer Preview 8102, some people have noticed that Adobe Flash player doesn't work.
Installing either the x64 or x86 version both have no effect in the Immersive Internet Explorer whatsoever.

This is actually because Microsoft ditched the support of plugins in the touch friendly version of Internet Explorer. Of course, you can still watch YouTube in the traditional Internet Explorer or any other browser of your choise.

All you have to do is download and install "WebM for IE9" (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/webmmf) and join the YouTube HTML5 trial.
After installing WebM, simply click "Join the HTML5 Trial" on the bottom of this page. (Make sure that Video tag, h.264 and WebM are all green...)

Make sure that all these options are green.

You are currently in the HTML5 trial.

YouTube is still not fully done yet with HTML5 support and it has some issues.

Notes and restrictions shown on the YouTube HTML5 trial page:
YouTube HTML5 page at http://www.youtube.com/html5 wrote:
Notes:
  • Fullscreen support is partially implemented. Pressing the fullscreen button will expand the player to fill your browser. If your browser supports a fullscreen option, you can then use that to truly fill the screen
  • If you want to find videos with WebM formats available, you can use the Advanced Search options to look for them (or just add &webm=1 to any search URL)

Additional Restrictions: (we are working on these!)
  • Videos with ads are not supported (they will play in the Flash player)
  • On Firefox and Opera, only videos with WebM transcodes will play in HTML5
  • If you've opted in to other testtube experiments, you may not get the HTML5 player (Feather is supported, though)

Since videos with ads are currently not supported, there is no way to play them using Immersive IE, but YouTube is working on this.

Videos with ads don't work with HTML5 yet.

You can adjust the video speed in the HTML5 player.

Enjoy playing videos in the new touch friendly IE!

No.

Yes, 5 seconds of Googling tells you Youtube will serve H.264 through HTML5 when WebM is not available for the video or client.

Then I am stupid and should not be taken seriously with anything Never mind that. Pretty sure HTML5 YouTube wouldn't work for me unless I had WebM installed in IE9.

Only HTML5 works in the immersive IE, it doesn't matter if Flash is installed or not, because it simply cannot be used in immersive browser.
I don't know about why it lags in google Chrome. Do you have the correct drivers installed and is the PC powerful enough?

From the Youtube sign-up page: "We support browsers that support both the video tag in HTML5 and either the h.264 video codec or the WebM format (with VP8 codec).". test video of search "test" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ahg6qcgoay4 works fine without the WebM extra.
