Well, I guess that they started taking pictures of that particular hill before Whistler even went into planning stage, let alone actually being released.

how do you do that thing with desktop and music player ?
It's been a feature since Developer Preview but it's improved a bit.
Point to start then move the mouse up so you can see your apps, then you can either snap left or right by right clicking the app's preview thumbnail. Alternatively, you could drag the top of the app's screen and snap it to one side or drag the app's preview thumbnail to one side.

There's no Start Button! D: That's the thing I hate about it.

You point at the bottom left to reveal your start button, then you drag the cursor up to reveal the running apps sidebar.
Changed my background. Flippy is best bear.

I just checked, and of all of the 26 Windows desktops posted here, 13 of them were of the Windows 8 Consumer Preview (Build 8250), meaning that the majority of Windows users posting desktop screenshots here are not only running Windows 8, but also the Consumer Preview build, and only the minority of the Windows users posting here (12) are running versions of Windows earlier than Windows 8!
My Windows 8 desktop is just the default setting, with the somewhat cartoon-like "beta fish" wallpaper (it seems as if this idea was reused from some of the later Windows 7 builds, only in a much less realistic looking way).

Your analysis is faulty, as you assume that all those who posted Windows 8 are running it as their sole and/or primary OS. Maybe they're simply sharing their Win8 desktops because that's what's hot right now.

And what about the five entries posted not using any version of Windows at all? What are we, chop liver?

I'm not denying that they also have other versions of Windows running on their systems, I meant strictly within the desktop screenshots themselves.
And, Derf, I know about the operating systems other than Windows, but I wasn't talking about those.
