Got this idea for a wallpaper late tonight and just ran with it - could not find a "classic style" AOL logo at a high enough resolution to do exactly what I wanted, so it's not perfect but I think it came out pretty well: Seems fitting considering this is probably the last time I'll be using this computer (my desktop PC) for a while... #college

Well, at the moment, I've since replaced my system's IBM TravelStar 12-13 GB hard drive with a Toshiba 12 GB model (both of which allocate 11.5 GB as the maximum size for a disk partition), not long after having returned from our other home (having stayed in a hotel some hours away from the other home), since the other hard drive happens to be located here (I didn't bring it with me back in the middle of June, since I didn't know that I would need it).
Anyway, that being said, my real primary system is a Compaq Armada M700 (manufactured as a notebook, yet used as a desktop, just to clear up any confusion), however, although for the last three weeks, I was using the rest of my system (the peripherals I would have used at our other home, along with the Memorex DVD-RDL containing my hard drive's entire contents in the Lite-ON DVD-R/RW drive, along with my USB devices) with another system's system unit, only since I returned have I been using my system's real system unit, with the replacement hard drive.
Upon returning on Saturday evening, I not only replaced my system's hard drive, but also repartitioned and reformatted my system's replacement hard drive, not to mention that I subsequently reinstalled Windows from the same Whistler Beta 2 Server CD-ROM mentioned above, however, this particular installation of Windows is only temporary, since I will, of course, be returning to using my real Windows installation (Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4), once my hard drive's contents are completely restored.
However, despite the fact that it's temporary (as with the installation of Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 2 Check-Debug on this system mentioned earlier), I will, again, post screenshots of my system's current desktop anyway.
These are the first two screenshots, taken after having switched from 640x480 screen resolution to 800x600 (note that, after having also replaced this system's RAM some months back, this system apparently suffers from a flaw in which it sometimes has trouble detecting the amount of RAM installed, despite still having up to 594 MB of RAM installed, meaning that Windows incorrectly reports the amount of RAM as being 196 MB, and even behaving as such):
This is the third screenshot, taken after having switched from 800x600 screen resolution to 1024x768:
Please note, of course, that as interesting and good looking as my system's current desktop may be, this desktop will only last as long as my system's current Windows installation, which is, as I've already said, temporary.
EDIT: In case anyone is interested in knowing, this particular desktop is Red moon desert, and can still be found in the RTM release of Windows XP, as well as, presumably, not only later releases of Windows XP (up to Service Pack 3), but also Windows Server 2003.

Windows 8 (M1) desktop. Before you say "get m3 its betuh" I don't want to use a build I can't activate easily. M1 is also more stable for me at the moment, so I'll sit and wait until there's an M3 activator or M4 comes out.

(One thing I hate about all Windows versions, is that it doesn't know about other file systems except NTFS, FAT32 and some CD file systems - so Linux partitions don't show up, which is a pain when I want to transfer music, videos, etc over between the Ubuntu partition and Windows 8 partiton...)

Have you tried EXT2FSD? I used with windows and never had a single issue, it has EXT4 support too!
My netbook with my monitor attached. I changed OS because Vista didn't recognize my external keyboard or SD --> USB adapter due to drivers and I also wanted to switch x64.

Thanks. I'll try that next time I need to test Ubuntu + Windows. Also, I got rid of Windows 8 and "fixed" the laptop with Windows 7. It was my parents' and they got mad because I installed Ubuntu on it I'll post my Windows 7 background later.

Just got Windows Developer Preview! I got the 64-bit with Developer Tools. Normal Desktop: Metro Desktop: 1600x900 because 1920x1080 isn't available and I can't get NVIDIA Control Panel by itself and I don't want to downgrade drivers, yada-yada-yada.
