Hi,

recently I wrote a little tool which prints the Location, given by Latitude & Longitude.
It demonstrates the usage of the Google Geocoding HTTP Service. With the Geocoding
Service you could essentially make requests in both directions:
1. Looking up a location based on lati- and longitude
2. Looking up lati- and longitude based on a location

The program is written in C++ and runs under Windows. Currently only tested on a Windows 7 machine, but it should run all 32-Bit versions of Windows beginning with 95/NT 4.0.

The source code is included in the archive. The program is based on WinInet (for doing the HTTP-Transfers) and libxml2 (for parsing the XML-Data).

The hole Google Maps topic is very interesting. Additional APIs include:
  • Static Maps API (for retrieving street map images)
  • Directions API (for calculation routes)
  • Street View Image API (for getting images of streets)
  • Elevation API
  • Places API (for getting informations about places)

All is free available to everybody, some Services require a key (which is also free).
If you have some questions about the Program/Geocoding API just send me a PM !!!!

The program is internationalized (currently german and english).
Here's a screenshot:

As Always: I take no responsibilities and you can distribute it for non-commercial purposes.
I used the free Code::Blocks IDE / Mingw Compiler for development.

Download: http://marmmm.ma.ohost.de/GetLocation%20(with%20source).rar

Note: The Project contains three target:
  • Debug (English Debug version)
  • Release (English Release)
  • Release - German (German Release)

All executables were packed with UPX !

With regards,
Martin
