I use 000webhost.com. It's by far the best free hosting I've found. If you buy minimum hosting from their sister site, you get a free TLD. So basically I pay $7.85 whenever I buy a new domain name, then cancel the paid hosting, then point the dns to 000webhost. It's better than paying $15 or more for the name.

I used to try and run my own site off a free host, but all the good ones required that you post in their forums a certain amount in order to keep my site alive, so now I just run a blog from Google Blogspot. It gets the job done and I don't have to worry about posting in forums.

I’m actually thinking on opening a small free hosting thing, I want to test the new Windows Server 8 so yeah.
And if everything goes well, I can actually rent the web space

They've been around since 2005, and I found them quite stable. The only drawback is because they doesn't use cPanel -- but their custom panel is not that hard to use IMHO. You should give it a try.

I think I'll add a 2nd vote for x10hosting. Best free host I've used, one of the few that has been around for many years.

I use 000webhost.com. It is quiet good. They offer a lot of disk space, ftp, latest versions of php and mysql and there are no ads. The con is that it is sometimes busy and slow. But if you want to test your projects only for yourself, make your own local server on a virtual machine on your computer. I am using it now and it is the best.. You can install there, what you want so you can get running everything you want.

Their free server is unstable but their paid server is very realiable and only is a one-time $9.99 fee, they have great support and a great community

000webhost is OK, however if your site is considered 'inactive' they will delete it without warning, and their affiliate program is a scam. It is a pretty good value considering it is free, though.

I think 000webhost is one of the best free web hosts out there.
It gives a lot of bandwidth , etc.
There's cPanel, online FTP, sub domain, mail client, and almost anything a cPanel can offer.

Those are quite crappy (404 redirections, buggy panel, spam newsletter, no mail()). X10hosting is better.

And signing up for a free account doesn't require any personal information at all, and you can register as many subdomains/domains you want

I've been looking around and found 1Freehosting. It offers 10GB storage, 100GB bandwith, no ads, 5 ftp accounts...

It seems to work without major troubles. So whats the catch with these services? I get some spam, but overall I haven't had problems, I am a bit worried that it may have malware or something, since this is too good to be true..



Just looking at the front page seems ok. Anyone use this, is it good?
