Hi,

I am new into game or graphics programming stuffs.

I want to learn some graphics programming that is cross-platform, and has some future.

So, which one would you suggest to learn ?
DirectX I think is just for windows right ?
And OpenGL works on all platform?

Is there any other programming tools that's pretty universal (I mean works on all devices/platform ?)

Thanks !

For cross-platform do Java and OpenGL.

OpenGL is used for alot of indiegames because its free. But major games use directX (for windows anyway). But opensource always wins...

OpenGL is used in rendering software and works only for graphics.
DirectX has a SDK with APIs for games,it has network and sound and input interfaces.
For newbies I recommend Allegro,a FOSS library for game developers.

For cross platform, OpenGL is definitely the way to go. Also, you might want to look at http://www.gamedev.net. It's a great resource for learning and some good documents on how to start.

Yeah, if you want cross platform then really the best option is OpenGL, but if you plan to stick with windows then DirectX will be fine.
