In Firefox 2, Firefox would always ask if you really wanted to close the browser when a download was running. Ever since I updated to Firefox 3, it doesn't confirm any more. If I close it without realizing that the download is still running, it will just quit Then if I open Firefox up again to attempt to resume the download, it says Unknown Time Remaining for a while and then gives me a message saying the source could not be read meaning that I have to start the download all over again.

Is there a way you can get Firefox to confirm on quit when a download is running?

type about:config and look for browser.download.manager.quitBehavior. Now change the value from 0 to 2

Thanks that seems to work. However there is another issue that I've had ever since I've used Firefox. Why does Firefox seem to add "www." and ".net" on the start and end of urls sometimes. e.g. "betaarchive.com" will be converted to "www.betaarchive.com.net".

I've never encountered this one before. Check the plugins? Are you using openDNS? Any DNS servers other than the ones that your ISP provides? If you aren't, maybe you should be. Maybe the name resolutions are timing out?

Means its tried connecting to betaarchive.com but its failed so it's trying other sites ...

If you hold down Shift when pressing enter on the location bar it will add .net to the end of whatever is typed in. If you hold down control, it will add .com to it.

As for the www, its never done that to me.

There are some add ons which automatically add .com for you

I hope that in the next version of Firefox, there won't be any issues with the Download manager.
