I wasn't going to post this but it's getting annoying now. Windows just freezes *in a weird way* randomly when i use chrome, i've not being able to pin point the cause at first i thought it was video streaming because it mostly happened on YouTube but since last night it has been happening on other sites too. What happens is that the desktop completely freezes i can't do anything, ctrl+alt+del doesn't even work but i can drag the sidebar gadgets around *btw they don't update* and the metro start menu along with the charms bar work *apps don't launch though*.

Anybody having a similar problem?

P.S i'm running the latest version of chrome *19.0.something* and win8 is fully updated.

Nope, Chrome works perfectly in 8RP1, version 19.0.1084.52 m, Windows 8 fully updated. Only problem is Flash in Firefox (won't install due to a weird problem)-which has made Chrome my new main browser, and Windows 8 RP1 my main OS.

PS. why won't chrome make a new tab with middle click like Firefox?

PPS. Here's the error if anyone can help:

The ActiveX control for Flash Player could not be registered.

The ActiveX Flash Player is the Flash Player for IE - I suspect it can't be registered because Flash is now integrated into IE (like with Chrome).

Interestingly, all of the problems I've had with IE10 on RP is down to the integrated flash player 8-)

There is a network issue with Win 8 RP. If you look at the troubleshooting forums on a site like EightForums, it's an insanely common issue that the OS freezes.

I've had the freezing thing in all three releases. DP, CP, and now RP. Even when not using Chrome.

IE is freezing a lot for me but I've personally had no issues with Chrome so far. I'm yet to see how Firefox and Opera perform on Windows 8 RP...

Internet Explorer is crashing like nobody's business for me, and the Dev Channel of Chrome wouldn't install, but normal Chrome is working fine here. Haven't had a single Chrome-specific crash yet.

or Chrome. Unless Chrome uses IE's engine or something?

Why isn't flash player integrated into Firefox?

All Microsoft operating systems!
Actually, as far as I know, Chrome uses the Webkit engine, the same engine used for Safari.

I have noticed a problem with Chrome, but not that it locks up, it loads but I can't go anywhere other than the new tab page, as it just shows the loading circle and never does anything, even when you hit the x button to terminate the loading.

I'm going to try a developer build tonight and see if that solves the issue, hopefully it will.

Just a heads up, Chromium 11.0.1167 runs perfectly on Windows 8. You can download it here:
http://commondatastorage.googleapis.com ... taller.exe

or, as these are frequently released developer builds, scroll down to the bottom of the page here:
http://commondatastorage.googleapis.com ... ?path=Win/
Just keep in mind that this link take some time to render for some reason, so give it a few seconds.

Skype never hogged up memory for me on 8400. Also, I'm using Opera, which worked on 8102, 8250, and 8400.
