Hi there,
I was recently reading Microsoft OS Checklist and wanted to see the README.WRI file from Janus 061d.
Since i don't want to waste my time installing it in VPC (which won't open IMG files) or VMWare, i tried to extract them.
Only the first disk was extractable with 7-Zip, but the others were not extractable.

Any solution for this? Even WinImage won't open it, it would just open an empty window without any files.

I use Universal Extractor for IMG files. It's not guaranteed it will extract them all but i would give 90% chance it will. If the previous program does not meet your needs, you can get VFD a virtual floppy drive. That just might solve your problem.

Hmm, I would try rawrite'ing one to a real floppy and then check if it works.

Eww, Opera.

Step 1; open in Virtual CloneDrive.
Step 2; copy the files from the mounted image to your PC.
Step 3;

Let me inform you all that are not aware of the fact that Virtual PC 2004/2007 supports .IMG file extensions despite not stating so in the open file dialog. However, if you simply change the extension without converting the image to a supported format (look for that on VPC Guy's blog) then, obviously, it will reject the image... So don't just go around changing file extensions, use WinImage (for example) to convert the image to a supported format... ;)

Well, WinImage is actually a buggy program, like sometimes the percentage says 20000%, etc.
Make sure the IMG is not mounted and not opened in any program other than WinImage. Try renaming it first.
