I've got this old Mac portable (you know, the huge "luggable" type?) with the backlight. It has the original 40 MB HDD...actually, everything on it is original. The thing is, I can't get the stupid thing to turn on, because Apple brilliantly designed it to power up through the battery and NOT the AC Adapter, so even if you have the AC adapter, it won't power up. In other words, it needs a new lead-acid battery. The battery is the original, which explains why it won't power on. I was just wanting to see how many people would be interested. (I have the original case, too)

Where are you in this big world?

It's also a rule to specify a price and a picture of the item with some grocery item in the picture.

There's a hack that allows you to bypass the battery so that it'll still boot.
it's on AppleFritter...

Why did I change the tag to wanted. I was in a rush, shoot me.

Yeah, you need to specify a price and location. It's all good if you're seeing who's interested, but you need to specify a price and location. If you don't, I will delete this topic.

I would be interested, but I am in the UK, so if you are indeed overseas, I cant see the postage worthwhile as it is a large item.
if not what would you want for it? £200?

Forgive my insolence...I live in Sundown, Texas (In the U.S., of course). I haven't made an eBay listing because, well, I HATE selling on eBay and I don't want to sell it without knowing who would be interested...and given that the only two posts with a tangible location are in the UK, 200 GBP (sorry, no "pounds" key...) sounds okay. I could negotiate a little...

Thanks, I will have to think about it, as £200 is a lot of money and I cannot actually see the machine in person.
Also I don't know if it is a working unit, until someone changes the way the power works.
(plus as i am UK based the voltage will be different for the power supply anyway maybe)

Edit: Woo 600 posts lol

Holy crap; you're right!! There's no way I'd sell it for $327 USD; that'd be wrong. I'd probably at the VERY most take around $125 USD for it if I sold it (I was converting British pounds to American dollars, and I did it the wrong way. (1 GBP=1.67 USD)

If you know what you're doing, you can take a power brick rated for the same voltage and mA as the original lead-acid battery and connect it directly to the battery terminals.

As far as trades go, it depends...what are we talking about? (If you must know, I love small electronics, so if you happen to have any Windows Mobile devices, Newer GarnetOS Palm devices, Apple iPortable devices and the like). As far as the backlight goes, it is a backlit model form 1990 (M5126), and I don't have the power adapter, but I have a universal one.
