Forum rules


- This forum will be un-moderated as far as what is being sold (within reason).
- Communication between sellers should be done on the forum or via PM, etc.
- BetaArchive and the staff has nothing to do with any sales made. Any problems should be taken up with the seller.

- You MUST indicate a price. "Open to offers" is not a price.
- CD Keys cannot be sold on their own. A license sticker must be provided otherwise there is no proof of ownership.
- MSDN/Technet accounts are not allowed to be sold as it is against the Microsoft EULA.

- All sales MUST include a picture of the item being sold. Partially blur out license keys on pictures.
- All items sold MUST contain an item of fruit or vegetables in the picture to verify the authenticity of the item being sold.
- Any sale not conforming to the above rules will be removed without warning.

Hi. I looking to buy some old laptop from year 1991 to max 1995. Good for me if laptop got minimum processor 20 mhz, maximum 75 mhz. I spent some time to search for exactly model, here are list of Toshiba and IBM, first Toshiba:

Its too fast processor I need one laptop with max 75 mhz... Personally I got Compaq Armada M700 with Pentium 450 mhz, and Toshiba Satellite 300 CDS with Pentium MMX 166 mhz.

I think I have an old Texas Instrumets TravelMate 4000 somwhere.. but has monochrome display, 25 Mhz CPU, 80Mb Hdd, 4 Mb ram, only floppy unit (no CD-rom), no sound card and need mouse to be connected via ps/2 when using windows (3.1 OEM installed). I rememeber the battery was almost dead, but I still have it's orginal instruction manual and weired mouse... if you're really interested I can search for it as it's lost somwhere in my garage... or, I have an ibm thinkpad 380 but it's almost dead and has 266 Mhz pentium II...

Why the max of 75Mhz? The cpus from then didn't go to gigahertz, that's true, but there's nothing wrong with 80Mhz or even 100 for windows 95 like OSes.

I can explain in that way. If I got old software from those years then I can use Windows driver. Its easy to trick with driver on betas like chicago 56s etc. I remember I got many trouble on my Toshiba 300CDS installing those old software, even installing driver got troube with getting proper screen. Hmm Texas can be good thing but bad that got monochrone display, sound is not very very important but I prefer for some reason colour display. Second thing is how much btw. you will want for TravelMate ? I dont get like MS but if this don't cost me very much with shipping then I can be interested, because I don't need to buy many old laptop I need 1 maybe max 2 but not with similar parameters.

I would recommend trying to find a Compaq LTE Elite (~1993/1994). These were best-in-class laptops for their time and come with up to 75mhz 486DX/2 processor which integrates a math co-processor. The maximum memory is 32mb (8mb onboard + 24mb addon). The onboard disk controller can recognize up to a 2GB hard drive but this can be expanded using a software-based drive extender.

The top of the line model is the Compaq LTE Elite 4/75 CXL and can be very hard to find but in my opinion is one of the best DOS/NT era laptops ever made. It was extremely popular in the enterprise for being very reliable and easy to perform maintenance on.

I own one which I've meticulously restored. Am I bias? Yes I am. :)

If you end up getting one I would be more than happy to send you the service manual in pdf.

Hmm its hard to find in ebay or polish site. On Polish site I found one but its lte 5100 which come with Pentium 90 mhz processor so its little newer than this one.

Bumping this if you're still interested. I spotted the laptop I mentioned on ebay:

The model I linked is especially rare because it is the largest screen and also uses the most advanced (at the time) TFT panel available. There are two variations of the motherboard; one with 4mb non-removable memory and one with 8mb. I "believe" that all of the CXL models come with 8mb onboard. Pair that with a 24mb addon and you'll have 32mb.

Please let me know if I can assist you further with the adoption process. I'll answer any question I can. :)

FYI, if you don't plan on bidding on it then I may do so myself for spare parts.

Oh man I wish I checked here, I threw out two old Toshiba Satellites that would have been on your list (Pentium I that came with Windows 95) - my bin was emptied on Friday so they're long gone now - sorry!
