Windows Neptune RTM is basically a project to make Windows Codename Neptune look and identify as a ready product. It will bring compatibility to Windows 2000, and still have the features of Windows Codename Neptune (as Windows Longhorn RTM will be compatible with Windows Vista).
Release versions going to be developed:
V10a: • Alter classic logon • Change user experience stuff left from Windows 2000 • Install Internet Explorer version 6 • Install Windows Media Player 9 • Remove Neptune Core instances (only text )
V10b: • Remove Microsoft Pre-release Development Utilities (they are useless) • Customize Windows Media Player 9 • Correct mistakes in beta user experience apps
V10c: • Fix broken stuff as possible (Photo Center and etc.; only possible things) ...
Final build: V10d

This is the third such project I've seen, one of which looks good and is still going. This one looks like linuxlove's though, which I was a part of. It failed. sorry, but I do think this is going to go nowhere.

now if someone could make that Desktop switcher stable and workable with other added desktops that would be great addition to a Neptune project (heck i'd use it on XP)

You can bring it to Win2000 SP4-Level Neptune is nothing else than W2k without Servicepack, exept the high Buildversion and Versionnumber of many Files, That's the Reasons, why many Things can't done on Neptune. Examples: If you change the Buildnr. to less than 2600, you can install the newer Nvidia-Drivers, 'cause they proof it to recognize W2k or XP, IE6, Servicepacks or DirectX looks at the Fileversion, 5.5 will never be overwritten, if you change this, installing is no Miracle.

but installing sp4 will crash neptune! Not all files can be replaced. And you have to be carefull. If you update too much it the logos will be change to win2k.
What is interesting is the hidden admin account you login the first time when you creat your user name. There you can disable the hibernation and there are two user control centers...... Howerver after the first reboot you can't logon back to that admin account. The normal admin account (in safe-mode) don't have those "extras"

I have one problem with Neptune this days.
I want to sysprep it, and I've use sysprep from windows 2000, with command "sysprep -pnp" (to detect hardware) and everytring goes fine, but after deploying on first start (first booting) I get error for the Harddrive controllers maybe the something connected with this thread and solution what I've given for the SCSI .
Any solution for this
In this project Windows Neptune RTM is this problem will be still present?
