Again, I'm taking operating systems apart, adding code, removing code etc. This time it's serious. Most recently I previewed Windows Manhattan Alpha Milestone 2. This had big changes from Milestone 1, including a new GUI, newer kernel and it featured some NeoD services that run in the background. Sadly, the 6608 kernel didn't like my graphics card so there was no aero or superbar. Milestone 3, which is currently in development, aims to fix all the driver issues by using Windows Vista SP1 RTM drivers instead of alpha drivers. Another difference is the 6519 base. Anyway, let me explain which OS is which Windows Manhattan is the client OS Windows Neoprene is the Server OS
Simples *meerkat squeak*
I will release news as soon as milestone 3 of Windows Manhattan is complete!

I have some conceptual bootscreens and a few screenshots of it being badly broken. I will post these once Build 8437 is compiled (Milestone 3). I still have build 8429 (Milestone 2) installed on my PC so I may try and fix some bits and pieces. Sadly, the drivers failing to install isn't repairable, unless I were to change my graphics hardware, which kind of defeats the object of an OS for all computers. This is what is currently in progress: Adding Windows 7 RTM goodies Rebuilding the kernel to a lighter, faster kernel adding NeoD background services Adding the dependency manager Using the Windows Vista SP1 RTM drivers and driverstore
Windows Manhattan is designed to have all the goodies and toys while being able to run on low spec systems.
