You need to use it as a floppy image. This image is 100% bootable as I checked it many times before uploading it to the site.
However, I do recommed you to download again the file (Maybe the file you downloaded was corrupt). If you still can't make the image to boot, you are free to add me to your msn and I will guide you step-by-step to use this HeinanOS image.

I downloaded the file from codeplex and I can't wait to test it! I have Virtualbox, but does it work on VMWare? And also, what are the system requirements?

It works on all known virtualization softwares, including WMWare, Virtual PC (Including Windows Virtual PC) and VirtualBox
Update: New build available via CodePlex! You can now download HeinanOS Milestone 1 R4, more information available in CodePlex (http://heinanos.codeplex.com).
BTW, the system requierments are:
Intel 386 2 MHZ 1 MB of RAM memory
Well thats all, I guess most of the people have these system specs
Now here's a question. Since HeinanOS is a text-based OS, does this require a 32-bit or 16-bit CPU? I'd love to try this on my old IBM PS/2, which is a 16-bit 8086.
Oh, I'm sorry, I noticed it just now.. Technically, HeinanOS Milestone 2 is ready, and already been compiled, but right now I'm doing it final testing to make sure its quality is high enough for end-users usage. Please be patient, as I'm trying to create something that is both stable, and exciting enough to make end-users use it. Anyway, I'm planning to release it during the coming days, with some hope to finish all during the weekend
Well, I'm sorry, but you will have to change the image format on your own, as I will be very busy during the coming days, and I dont want to hold you with this.

You've completely coded it yourself? Wow, that's not something you see everyday. I can test if you want.

Hey, when are you planning to release Milestone 3?
Well, I already implemented User-Mode, and now checking builds with it. I expect it to be released in,let's say, February 2011. Anyway, during the coming week expect to see a new release of HeinanOS (Milestone 2 R2) with User-Mode.

It would be great! Download the latest release and report me of any bugs you will find. Plus, send me an e-mail (heinanxp@hotmail.com) and I will reply to you with the Milestone 2 R2 build so you can check it.
