Microsoft started its new service Outlook.com and had a rush of visitors. 1 Million new users in 6 hours, many saved a address , but won't use it for some time (everybody wants a cool name).
I also saved myself a e-mail, but I will use it, of course.
The new interface is really nice, the Metro style is perfect :) .

Yeah, I like it more than Hotmail and i also like the name Outlook more than hotmail.
I am a critic of Metro, but Outlook.com is styled perfect and simple.
When I find out the POP3/IMAP data , I can finish my setup. I just can't find them yet

Yepp. I signed up and it's way better than Hotmail (though my day-to-day email service is Sky.)

I actually didn't like it that much, it seems a bit too plain for my likes. Maybe it'll improve... But what new features does it have apart from the new look?

Well, one of article on the net says...

5 top features in Outlook.com
1. New design (Metro look as everyone knows...)
2. No ‘creepy ads’
3. Categorises emails (by pictures, documents)
4. Uses Skydrive (for large file attachment) and Skype
5. Can connect social accounts (Currently I can see only Facebook) and other emails

1. As I said
2. I block ads, so doesn't affect me-although apparently it still has ads
3. Ok, thats a new feature, but not very big.
4. SkyDrive integration might be new, Skype is not yet integrated
5. Live can connect to those things, although its not really hotmail.

I like it :)

I was pretty much done with my last web email service and I decided to go all hipster and make an Outlook account...

The metro theme looks nice. I didn't think it was going to be that useful but it's not bad, including since my last one (mail.com) had a clunky interface. It sucks that I'm having problems hooking my account up to my iPod (IMAP problems) but I guess that'll be fixed soon enough...

I guess Apple did something right...

I will ALWAYS need an optical drive.

Hmm, nice, when I'll have time, I will sign-up there and try it out since I am seeing positive comments about it :)

ooh, Hotmail Got upgraded.

Outlook.com is just a rebranding and semi redesign of hotmail, you get the same log-in screen and sign-up screen, just one says hotmail and the other outlook. Both my hotmail accounts (that I barely use) has the outlook ui now. And looking at it, I lost minor functionality (mostly inter-phasing with the rest of MS).

This irritates me when people dismiss Google's privacy-abusing ads on the grounds they have an ad-blocker.

Just because you have some software that stops the ads from displaying, does not stop Google from collecting the information, in this case by reading your emails and generating a profile of you and attempting selling your advertising space.

The "creepy" ads still exist - you just can't see them any more.

Personally, I love the new Outlook look. Like, who invented the name Hotmail? :P

I was comparing Hotmail with Outlook, I thought Hotmail only showed ads on the side, without reading your messages. If the "creepy" ads on Hotmail meant privacy invasion, then its good that they stopped it, I thought it just meant that Outlook was hiding ads while previewing messages. Nothing to do with Google (which I agree is bad, and why I don't use it).

I'm sure hounsell was talking about GMail's "creepy" ads. Hotmail did have ads, but they were completely irrelevant. But in Gmail.....you will send an e-mail talking about cars for example, and the next thing you know, car ads start replacing the irrelevant ones.

Ok, that makes sense. I know about GMails privacy invasion (hence I don't use it), just thought he was talking about Hotmail vs. Outlook.

It's much better than Hotmail was, also the Skype integration is very nice.
