That's just the smell of poorly compressed JPG's, never fear.

I wonder if the Windows 98 Recycle Bin icon is being used as a placeholder by Microsoft or if it was a customization done by the user.

Done by the user. Just finding icons still present in twinui.dll.

Yep, I just read on MDL that he changed the icon himself, no idea why he wouldn't show it off "as is".

Wow. Really liking these pictures. If the community preview is stable enough (for my purposes), I may actually start using it full-time.

Wow these are really nice! But I would still like a background picture for metro start screen, But I would like to know if the installation is faster and the ISO size has been reduced

There are 5 languages available, so... the iso should contain those language packs, hence it might be a little large in size
Hope the installation be faster. (actually I think the installation time of Windows 7 is fast enough, just takes me 20--30 minutes to complete it)

Cant it just ask you on installation what language you want and only install that language pack and if they want to change it they can use the disk or if not, microsoft could create a language pack download

Having a user-selectable background picture would be a disaster. The amount of users that'd put some awful clashing wallpaper on there and then complain why the text isn't readable...

It's better to just ship with selectable "styles".

I agree that letting users select a custom background would be a disaster ,but perhaps Microsoft could include some background pictures that work along side the styles. Because I think the one color looks awful. And stupid.

They will offer a number of background "patterns", and a choice of a number of colours I believe.

Almost no photos would work because of the plain white text overlayed on the background.
