Microsoft wouldn't do this. Although it would be pretty sweet, piracy would be overwhelming.

They would shoot themselves in the foot if they would do that. There would be no point for marketing Xbox when you can have Kinect and all the X360 games on a PC...

Technically impossible. The XBox 360 uses the PPC architecture. Windows 8 supports ARM and x86.

i think this points more twords a type of remote play

similar to how the ps3 has remote play with the PSP
but because Microsoft has no portable it will be a remote play app for the PC

Would be odd doing that with a computer rather than an advanced controller though.

i think youll need a 360 controller to make it work because WSAD would be a pain in the ass to use
or maybe even it could work with normal usb controllers if MS wanted to be nice

but because the 360 controllers sync easily with the PC i doubt a usb controller would be allowed

Most likely those are XNA games Windows 8 will run, since those are managed code. Native code (XBE) has no chance of running on a PC since PowerPC != Intel x86/AMD64

Look at WP7! It also has some sort of Xbox integration, and is a mobile phone OS.

So now with this more and more integration of features from all the devices for which MS makes software, and with this unification of UI and platform compatibility for Win 8, why not?

Microsoft wont buy the abandoned Rosetta CPU core from Apple.
They will make it like in WP7,XNA only or remote desktop.

The XBox ran a Windows 2000 based kernel, and the 360 OS is built from that code. Perhaps they are trying to integrate separate code bases (like Apple's OS between their handheld and desktop products).

last i checked there hasn't been a 360 emulator yet besides most PCs arnt powerful enough to even run one if one was made

As it happens, a quick glance didn't show any occasions where the strings were even used in the kernel. But these strings do not indicate anything like Windows 8 allowing you to play Xbox games. They would not be in the kernel and such a system would not through bugchecks.

Use your heads guys, do some investigation first.

Windows 8 having a complete emulator for the Xbox 360 that can actually run at a decent speed while being able to somehow load the discs on a PC and opening up piracy even more? No, it's a ludicrous rumor.

Come on people... Bugcheck strings won't enable playing XBOX360 Games... oh and since when was x86/AMD64 PowerPC based? Come on guys, put 2+2 together before making stupid claims.

Yup, the only way is emulation but good luck emulating a 3.2GHz RISC processor, it would be way too slow for x86.

It's interesting to see that the Intel Mac OS X could emulate PPC Mac OS applications at decent speed. For Xbox 360 games, there's the whole graphic system to be emulated too.

I just love how much some seem to want to understand about hardware and say then stuff to others like add 2+2. reminds me somehow of the clames that a 64bit OS will use up double amount of Ram -.- ..... (that also makes sens, if you only think 1 Minute about it, special when you follow all the wanna be informed "skeptics")

It points more to the opposite; that the next Xbox will run a variant of Windows 8, or perhaps even Windows 9 by that stage. Putting the Xbox references in the kernel just seems like a way to future-proof, imho.

It would not be such a clever move by Microsoft to allow you play Xbox games on Win 8.
