I bet that a lot of you remember the Commodore 64, well the Commodore cokmpany is back and it's selling remakes of their most popular PC's, obviously with modern hardware like HDMI video or USB ports and an emulator capable of playing games designed for the original Commodore 64.

WOW the idea is brilliant. But i always thought they wanted to produce a computer for game freaks?

Hasn't this been done to death?
There have been multiple commodore labelled machines up to even blank cdroms.
They are just recycling the brand, inside it's nothing more than your average atom system sadly
I recall even seeing amiga being used on something totally unrelated.
I hope that all this would just die already, The commodore today has nothing to do with the commodore back then.

I think it's a neat idea, myself. Will it be successful? Who knows. I, like the previous poster, was a bit disappointed when I heard it wasn't a true replica, but just new innards in an old-styled box.

I can't say I'll purchase one, but we'll see.

Commodore could be a dualsystem. Emulator of the old BASIC, and integrated linux.

These have been around for a little while now, there was another company that did the whole pc like that, might have even been them under another name. I would love to have one of these if anyone has see that tv commercial about a home getting broken into and they stole everything but the computer.....

Just to clarify here, that is NOT the original company. That's a company that bought the rights, and now they're creating ordinary linux computers that are marketed, priced, and look pretty much the same as the old ones. They come with emulators that can make them almost like the original, but all they are are just plain pc's, great for internet surfing, playing low-grade games, and (of course) emulating the original.

Are the new Commodore 64 like a nettop?

It's a generic nettop slapped with the commodore logo to milk the money.
They have been doing this stuff for years, this time around the iteration is a netbook.
At least time around they bothered to make some effort for it instead of just taking an pre-made system and slapping that with C=
