It seems that Xbox 360 will have the same UI (metro UI) as the Windows OS. Maybe Microsoft want to make a similar interface for every product they have. Anyways, looks pretty interesting:

Well, we already know Office is heading for a Metro-style design, though it'll still be some compromise with the ribbon, since pure metro couldn't handle that level of functionality.

Of course Microsoft are keen to use it wherever possible though, it's a great UI, surprisingly simple and therefore not heavily dependant on resources, and scales well from a phone screen to a 1080p TV.

Also, it's good for brand recognition. You can tell a UI is an Apple UI without any logo, because their basic styling is consistent across all their products. If MS can achieve the same, then it's certainly going to improve brand recognition.

Yupz.. with integration on the go, it will not be surprising if Windows releases similar interfaces in their various products... the phones, Xbox and Windows. . The problem about using different types of software is the need to familiarise with the interface before you can actually use it. So with similar interface, it seems pretty user-friendly. =)

I'm probably in the minority here if I say that I'm happy with the current dash... There's this ilusion of depth that Metro UI simply doesn't have.
Actually, this sense of perspective grabbed me ever since the first Xbox came out.
Well, I guess we, law-abiding, 360 owners will have to comply to their mandatory updates, won't we ?

is microsoft actually trying to make my throw my xbox 360 out the window? i hated nxe, nearly puked when i saw second gen nxe, i thought, could they possibly make it any worse?, seems they have, just bring back the orig xbox dash (or let me downgrade)!

True, I also hated the new dashboards, but I didn't think the first NXE was that bad after a while.
The current dashboard is really awful though. If feels slow (because it is slow ), looks bland and had pretty much exactly the same layout as the old one :/

Right now I think the same of metro. Area still looks nice (if Microsoft calls it outdated, remember they still have an option for classic explorer ) so I don't see the need for a brand new interface. It's nice that Microsoft is trying to get a consistent look for all their devices (Windows, Phone, Xbox) similar to Apple's OSX and iOS, but I just don't like their direction.
