Here is the leaked picture of a new possible Droid 3. Rumors are that it will run Android 2.4. No info from Motorola or Verizon yet.

Android 2.4 (honeycomb)? I would of thought it would be stock 2.3

What about Android 3.0, is that going to remain a tablet only version. Seems like they would want to keep everything on par with the same android version whether its a tablet or phone.

No, Honeycomb is 3.0

I think 2.4 will fall under the Gingerbread umbrella just like 2.0 and 2.1 were both Eclair. They will save Ice Cream for a later version number to avoid confusion. (or at least I hope )

In my opinion, it is a bit too large. It does look quite nice though.

By that reasoning 2.3 should have been Froyo as 2.2 is, but that is not the case. 2.4 will have the moniker Ice Cream. Why they do not just port Honeycomb to mobiles is the question, they are already doing it over at XDA.

That's what 2.4 is basically. The recombining of Gingerbread and Honeycomb. If this ends up with stock 2.4 and a dual core chip...it might end up on my wish list, depending on if the motorola bullet and jet are real.
