I hope there is a function in Windows 8 >> after restart or shutdown of Windows 8 you can pick up exactly where you left off.

Ah, hibernating? That's the only thing I can think of (and no, MS won't copy Lion, sorry).

But that would be convenient :)

Isn't hibernating available since... 9x?

This has been available in Windows for much longer then apple.
So, Apple copied the function and not the otherway around, please update your information with the correct information.

Man, that Lion thing when you turn off your Mac, programs will reopen on next boot, is not hibernation, by the way.

That is called hibernation.....
In addition, I suggest that you read up what hibernation is.

No, that Lion feature doesn't save RAM state in a file...

Sleep mode: Stores stuff in the RAM and doesn't really shut down the computer
Hibernation: Saves the current session to the hard drive and fully shuts down the computer

So, what Lion does is Hibernation.

Well, some minutes ago I used Windows 7 build 6801 and accidentally pressed 'Hibernation'. It saved the RAM state to hard drive and the PC shuts off. Back on, and it is as it was.
But not the same thing was with Lion. When you turn on your Mac it just turns on as usually and only THEN OPENS all apps which were opened before.

So you're saying that Lion "hibernates" something like this:

Write a list of programs to run at startup
Shut down the computer
After loading the OS, read the list it saved during shutdown
Execute all programs in that list
Delete the list so that the same programs do not continue to appear every time at start up

Yes, that is what I mean. And that can't be really called 'hibernation'.

Source? Looks nice, setup's been the same since Vista, so an overhaul sounds great.

At MDL they also say a build could get leaked extremely soon, matter of hours or days. Hmmm....

That they said back in January 2011...

They first need to leak it to be it true that it is leaking in just a few hours or days...

looks like a leak is near...

EDIT: The setup looks fine, except the preparing setup part that has that ugly blue-green-greyish color... :?

Been noticed for a while, though the rest of the screens seem genuine... Who knows if Windows 8 wasn't in development before 7 was released? That's just the setup files.

I prefer the term "MSOD" - Metro Screen of Death. More descriptive.

Much nicer to look at, if a lot less useful :P
