I was using IE 10 on Windows 8 RTM, then I went to the "About Internet Explorer" window and i cliked the link near "Update Versions: RTM", and it took me to this page: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2718695/en-us
IE 10 will not be available for Windows 7, although some Platform Previews were released for Windows 7. Looks like Microsoft won't update their products like before, Windows Phone 8 and IE 10 are the proofs.

We need to find a way to install it in Windows 7. Them not letting us is bull.

That came as a bit of a surprise and disapointment, originaly they said it won't support Vista, and now they killed 7 support as well... :(

It is interesting though, that if you look at several Microsoft pages about IE you will notice they contradict themselves about availability for Windows 7. Like someone said in an article, perhaps IE10 will be released for Windows 7 alongside SP2.

Honestly, I think that Microsoft won't even release a SP2 for Windows 7, or if it'll be released, it would be just a package which contains all the released updates. Microsoft wants Windows 8 on every computer, and by not updating previous software like Win7, she hopes that everyone upgrades, trust me. And by reshacking the WindowsStore files, i found some lines which says that even the store for win8 will be abandoned (i hope it doesn't close when win9 will be released) ("Windows Store is not supported on your current operating system", or something like that, i don't remember exactly)

Who's in charge of making these decisions at Microsoft lately? They've all just garbage. No WMP12 for Windows Vista (which was by far the best implementation of WMP), no Office 2013 for Windows Vista (of which there is no technical reason for), no signs of a Windows 7 Service Pack 2 (and let's face it, our new SP1 installs are getting pretty bogged down with a barrage of updates) - it's just disappointing. Everybody craps on Apple for discontinuing prior products too early, but clearly Microsoft has begun on that route and taken it to a much, much higher level. Sad.

What do you mean no WMP12 for Windows 7? Isn't it already on there?

No problem Derf, I was thinking you meant Vista... ;)

Versions 10, 11 and 12 were pretty good. Too bad they stop developing it... :(

Yeah, that's a bad thing, I don't like the Windows 8 xbox music app much... MS could have at least changed the interface from aero to metro, to be more coerent, but i think i'll create my own WMP 13 in VB.NET xD

Yeah, when I tried out WMP on the RTM, I was surprised. It doesn't take much work to put a clean background, give Metro back/foward buttons, and Metro play/other buttons

All may look lost, but remember, Windows Media Player 8 wasn't available for any versions apart from XP, then they released version 9 for 98, Me and 2000. Not saying that this'll what happen this time, but even if we don't get IE10 for Windows 7, IE11 -could- be a possibility. Even Microsoft can't be ignorant enough to ignore the fact that most people are going to want to stick with Windows 7 if they have it already!

One thing about this is Microsoft might be trying to force everyone to use Windows 8, whether you like it or not. Some people just won't care about IE 10 support like me, I'll stick with Chrome, thanks anyways.

Who knows? Maybe they could change their decision, if most of users still stick on Windows 7 or immediately downgrade their OS to Windows 7 after purchasing their new machine.
Like when the Windows Vista came out to the world.

Whats with IE? No matter what number's behind it, its not a great browser still.
IE is the best browser - when using to download other browsers.
:P

The real problem is that so many people actually still use IE6 8-)

Has this been announced because what I get from that page seems like it's not available yet, even though it doesn't say yet.

This.
I have Chrome on both my Windows 7 laptop and my Hackintosh and thanks to the Hackintosh being upgraded I can finally use it on OS X. I'll be installing Windows XP on VMware Fusion later (VMware Fusion 3 since version 4 only supports 64-bit and GMA 950 users are left in the dust when it comes to 64-bit, both Hackintosh and real MacBooks.)

I remember when people were ranting about no IE9 support in XP. Windows XP, even for me, is too old an operating system for IE9 in my opinion. 8-)

No, it's not available yet because Windows 8 hasn't been released to the general public.

This is why I will never switch back to IE and this is also why IE is losing market share. IE9 is a decent browser, but Microsoft is still too slow at releasing new versions/features to keep up with the competition. In the past Microsoft has at least supported Windows with all newer IE editions until its mainstream support ended and once it went into extended support only security updates were provided.

Vista's mainstream support has ended so it would make sense for it to not get IE10, but Windows 7 has until January 2015 so it should get IE10.

As said, we should wait for the official relase date or an official statement before making any assumptions...

They're trying to follow Apple in that particular matter. I recall that when OS X Lion came out the new Safari (5.1) would not install on Snow Leopard. Not because of any reason, just because they wanted people to upgrade. Of course, they made a Snow Leopard version, but removed a lot of features that made 5.1 be 5.1. I thought of a workaround in minutes, tried it, and got it to install in Snow Leopard without a problem. I tried it out, and it worked PERFECTLY. Nothing was broken, no glitches or freeze-ups. Apple just did it to make Snow Leopard seem old and outdated (personally, I prefer Snow Leopard over Lion or Mountain Lion). That's what Microsoft's trying to do here (though I doubt that they'll make a special version for 7). But as DeFacto said, we should wait for an official release/announcement before making assumptions.
