Forum rules

Please read the following rules before posting a download request in this area:

1. Don't post a request if you have under 10 posts as stated on the front page. If you do anyway, it will be deleted without further notice. This also applies to other members: If you see a request by someone with less than 10 posts and it hasn't been deleted yet, please don't reply to it.
2. Don't request for warez or any copyrighted software. Only betas (no matter how old or new) and finals of operating systems and applications that are at least 10 years old and therefore classified as abandonware are allowed to be uploaded to and shared on the BetaArchive FTP server.
3. If you have your own FTP server where you'd like other members to upload what you're looking for to, please don't post its login details in any open forum as that will probably lead to abuse. Post the login details in the Private Servers section instead.
4. Check that we don't already have the file on our FTP servers. If you don't have access to the FTP servers then ask someone who has (a moderator for example).

It was proprietary, but as it is from November 1994, i think it's abandonware now.

I don't know if you can put your hands on 2009.06 source snapshot.
Development in OpenSolaris continued until August 2010 (even if no binary distribution was released), so the source code still available at the project website is probably only that old.
You can take a look at it through a cool source browser at http://src.opensolaris.org/source/.
If you need to download the source, you can pull it from the OpenSolaris Mercurial repository.
Instructions are available at http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/view/Project+onnv/.

Got the 2009.06 image. I also downloaded OpenIndiana. And I will take a look at the source. I hope I will be able to compile it under Linux. I wanted the source simply for hobbyist purposes, not for actual use.

But none of the *Solaris provides full support for my MacBook. Same as FreeBSD. But I have more hope in FreeBSD because it is actively developed and supported OS, with a big user community, not as Oracle abandoned Open Solaris.

What I don't like about FreeBSD is that when I posted on the forums about my hardware problems with FreeBSD no one seems to care. They are not very helpful.

But I must admit, Apple is trying to be a monopoly. They don't want us to use operating systems other than OS X (and Windows through bootcamp). But that's why (along with many other reasons) I am no longer an Apple geek. I will also request an username change from the admins of the forum.

You won't probably be able to compile it under Linux.
It should be meant to be built under a Solaris OS with Sun (now Oracle) Studio C compiler.

I understand your issues with the MacBook.
I'm a PC user and of course I think PC is the best option for people who want to try a lot of operating systems.
But things like the Wi-Fi support are still a problem on open source OSes, even on a PC.
Just a few years ago it was a common issue on most Linux distros.

OpenSolaris and OpenIndiana are worth to be mentioned when it comes to hardware support.
They're great OSes, but they have no great hardware support: they don't even boot on some PCs.

So all I can say to you is to try to get the most fun from Linux now. :P
