Forum rules


Please read the following rules before posting a download request in this area:

1. Don't post a request if you have under 10 posts as stated on the front page. If you do anyway, it will be deleted without further notice. This also applies to other members: If you see a request by someone with less than 10 posts and it hasn't been deleted yet, please don't reply to it.
2. Don't request for warez or any copyrighted software. Only betas (no matter how old or new) and finals of operating systems and applications that are at least 10 years old and therefore classified as abandonware are allowed to be uploaded to and shared on the BetaArchive FTP server.
3. If you have your own FTP server where you'd like other members to upload what you're looking for to, please don't post its login details in any open forum as that will probably lead to abuse. Post the login details in the Private Servers section instead.
4. Check that we don't already have the file on our FTP servers. If you don't have access to the FTP servers then ask someone who has (a moderator for example).

Back quite a while ago on My Digital Life, there was a homemade shsxs.dll for 7989 that would cause the entire desktop UI to break. Does anyone still have that file? I'm looking to play around with it but now I can't find it anywhere.

There was a link to the same file on GoPut.IT a while ago but that too has been deleted. As you say, it is strange.

Wasn't this for trying to make Metro work on 7989? I had a friend of mine get it working but it was def not ready in that build.

Yes, shsxs.dll is what makes Metro run in the early Milestone builds of Windows 8. Your friend got Metro working in 7989? I'd like to hear what he did to get it working. I'd also like to see screenshots, if that's possible to get.

Actually, I looked at the exported function list and saw that there are basically no functions inside, so I guess that's not the right file. I'll still play around with it to see what actually happens when I try to use it.

The file you want to modify I believe is twinui.dll I think something twin. Thats what your looking to do stuff with. That being said your going to need to RE it because from what I heard from the guy I know it took him quite some time to get working there were still commented areas in the coding. Thus the reason why I did not give it much thought I was just going into to null out the built in timebomb and other stuff. He no longer has the files still which he modded sorry.
