Fake screenshot contest v:2.0
------------------------------------
So, here you go. It's an ideal method of wasting your pasttime.
There are two categories:
- Almost indistinguishable (aka. looks like real): Try to make your work as deceptive as you can.
- Fun: I think it needs no explanation

Have fun!

well w/e then. Too tired, cant be bothered.

Admin edit: The BA image uploader is there for a reason and it is a rule that you use it. Don't expect images hosted elsewhere to remain posted. Everyone gets the same treatment, not just you.

Almost Indistinguishable:

Longhorn Build "5084"

Image

Basically 5048, with a few Style changes such as the new green theme, which was abandoned in favour of a more jade-like approach in later builds.

Thought I'd have a go at doing one of these, so here it is :) It's what I think Windows 95 might have looked like had MS come up with some of their ideas for Vista back then...

I have to say this looks way cooler than on Vista somehow, maybe because if that were real in the 90s, it would have been way cooler than today.. :D .

A "Windows 2001" design which I made some time ago:

It is something like a final build of Neptune...

Thought I'd mock up a Windows "7":

Image

How the interface works:
*Running applications are shown in the bottom left, next to the notifications. The Windows icon is Explorer; other open applications would appear to the right of it. This area works much like the Dock in OS X, except it is only for displaying running applications - click the icon for an application to bring all windows for that app to the front. Press an assigned hotkey to make all the windows for that app scatter Expose-style so you can see them all and select one. Press a different assigned hotkey to make all open windows (from all applications) scatter, Expose-style.

*Click the "Desktop and Gadgets" button in the top left to display your desktop items, and again to hide them. If you have windows open, pressing the assigned hotkey for this function makes the icons and gadgets appear in front of your open windows.

*The top right acts as either menus or Ribbon tabs, depending on the application open. It can be made more transparent or auto-hiding if you want. In Explorer they're menus, but in most apps the Ribbon tabs will be displayed there, clicking one filling the space to the left with the appropriate part of the Ribbon. Explorer windows are largely replaced by detachable menus that perform all the functions of windows.

Anyone else got any thoughts on a new Windows interface for "7"?
