So, i just downloaded the HL2 Beta from the torrent "HL2 - Beta (Half life 2 beta)", and i got the file "Half life 2 - anon- hl2 -fixed - include patch and user guide.rar", i would like to know if it is safe, because i asked virustotal.com to scan the hl2.exe that came on it and ClamAV detected a PUA.Win32.Packer.InstallerVise or something like that.

Get advanced member and then get it from the FTP, that version is definitely safe.

Yeah, because posting on a forum asking if a file you downloaded is safe is going to give you accurate results

You can trust the online virus scanner (which sounds fishy to me) or you can trust the random internet person (which isn't always the right thing to do).
Ultimately, it's your call to open the file. If anything bad happens at that point, it's your own fault.

That version of the leak is indeed safe, however the "Half life 2 - anon- hl2 -fixed - include patch and user guide.rar" version is horribly corrupt and will not be playable for the most part.

The version you need is split into 100 rar files. Not too sure if the one on the BA FTP is this one or not but it should probably be fine as well.

I got that 100 part version ScarT uploaded once but it had three zip bombs accoording to avast! so i didn't run it.

EDIT: Also, i noted the version was corrupt since this was the first one i played, and the combine camera thing's textures are messed up. Plus, d1_trainstation_02 and much much more don't run either. I'm going to run this on a VM for now.

Well it's understandable that you're concerned about malware and stuff like that. But honestly, you're being paranoid. There are literally thousands of people who have downloaded the anon leak over the past 9 years without any complaints of trojans (not including false positives), and it's pretty clear that betaarchive wouldn't have uploaded it to the FTP if it contained any trojans or viruses.

I can assure you that the 100 rar leak I uploaded is the original untouched from 2003. As Inevitab13 said the version you downloaded is terribly corrupt.

EDIT: I just didn't get the 100rar before because downloading from RapidShare is a p.i.t.a.

My beta only does that half of the time. I got mine from HL2-Beta.ru and using their patch. I got a new beta on my drive I'm about to install, so I hope I wont get that half of the time I play it.

I think the patch they have there is just the lame corrupting anon patch 1.

The beta is completely safe, albeit very buggy.

Actually the first "patch" anon released for the patch contains the corrupt files.

I know that, what i mean is that i think the patch hl-beta.spb.ru (or hl2beta.ru if you'd rather) has is just the anon patch 1 (which i described as lame and corrupting)
