It depends on the content of the posts, but posting things like this is not going to be useful. You read the rules, so you must know you need to apply for Advanced membership-you don't automatically get it.

You don't sent a PM, you join the group and await approval from a moderator. Read the contributions guidelines page and it explains how to do this and even includes a link to it :)

Well, that wasn't really the case when I applied for it, but that was back in 2010.
