Hi,

Me and my friend had a discussion, we were talking about abandonware and he said that it's not legal to download anything from here and elsewhere without owning an original copy of the software. Is this true?

Regards,
Jack.

If you want to be 100% legal and sure you don't do anything slightly illegal then yes, it's true. If you want to follow the corporations then you need to buy everything in shiny new boxes, or forget it ever existed as most old titles can't be found in a store. Even buying most software on eBay may be illegal as their licenses forbid second hand resale etc...

Not a fun world to live in, but hey, haven't you ever walked across the street when there was a red light? :).

And I just made a thread for that. :o

Yeah, people do break the rules, actually most of the people, don't follow most of the rules, here in India. ;)

See? There’s no pattern here. I’m not interested in your conspiracy theories.

I have, since it's not illegal in the UK.

I'm not really sure if it's illegal or not here in Greece, but I've spotted some lights like those.

Why is it that stuff in Site Feedback and Support tends to drift off-topic fairly often?

Because BetaArchive is so awesome and faultless.

Therefore, feedback tends to be of a "why is the world the way it is and how it sucks for BA" nature, which is pretty general and open-ended.
